Extensive cross country schooling venue operating since 1989, with 3.5 miles of track, 100+ fences, two water features, three sunken roads, and two woodland areas near Ongar, Essex.
Always have such a blast here, I've been coming here for years and still don't think I've jumped everything available! Fantastic for both youngsters and more experienced horses, this was my boys 2nd cross country outing and only first this year so we started on the small ones to build confidence and then could move onto the bigger stuff. Be warned, if you're on foot then be prepared to get some serious steps in! Most of the course goes round the edge of crop fields so if you want to stay with the action you'll have to walk the edges too! Secure car park, toilet facilities and water for the horses available too.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with horse riders at any level — the variety of fence heights and types means beginners build confidence on smaller obstacles and experienced horses can tackle full combinations in the same visit. Families following riders on foot should prepare for extensive walking around large field perimeters.

“Loved this place, Marcelo and Poli were really welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. Having the house to ourselves was brilliant!! Room was lovely, hottub was fantastic, and the pool made it feel like we were abroad. Having table tennis and air hockey games inside was brilliant fun. The option to sit in the spacious sitting room with the TV late evenings was fab. All in all we look forward to going again, maybe next time with a group of us”

“Wow!! Such an incredible venue!! Very well maintained and the largest variety of jumps I think I have ever seen!! Everything you need and more for training, ditches, water, woods, hedges…We are going to come back several times to try to explore more the the fields as my daughters pony was too tired to do any more the day we went! Very easy to book as well.”

“So lucky to have such a fantastic facility locally, catering for tiny tots right through to competition riders. Huge variety of fences and combinations, plenty parking, just a super course.
