Rescued ponies, pigs, sheep, rabbits, and birds across 16 acres in Cotwall End Valley. Families buy feed bags for goats and sheep, explore enclosures, and use the secure dog run. Muddy on wet days.

I went with my 3 children (ages 9, 7 and 1) for something to do in the half term, and can honestly say for the price it was well worth it. A few of the animals that are on their website we didn't see/couldnt find which was the only downfall but everything else we couldnt fault. There was a good selection of animals to see and some we were able to feed, which the children really enjoyed. The only thing I would say that we didn't approve of, was around most of the fences where children would stand there were LOTS of stinging nettles which my child did sting themselves on, I think if they were tamed for me it would be a 10/10 experience. But it didn't dampen our visit, we still had a great time and will definitely be back!

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for families with children aged 3 and up who want hands-on animal contact at a low cost. The open acreage gives high-energy children room to move between enclosures freely. Families with mobility aids can cover most of the site. Visit on a dry day β€” paths get muddy and some areas become difficult underfoot after rain.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Feed bags for goats and sheep are available on-site β€” kids rate this as the highlight
⏰Wear wellies or waterproof footwear after any recent rain
🎟️Most paths are navigable with mobility aids at a slow pace
πŸš—Check enclosure borders for stinging nettles before letting young children run ahead

β€œLovely morning wandering around to see the birds, rabbits, pigs, ponies and sheep. I walk with a stick but found most of it very easy to get around and just went at snails pace for the odd couple of steps and slopes. Bought a few bags of animal feed for the goats and sheep (Β£1 per bag) and the kids loved being able to be so close to them. There are basic toilets and a proper disabled one too which was really handy. The lady in the shop was so friendly and the cakes were nice too :) Stayed for a warm up with some coffees. The kids sat and coloured in while they drank their hot chocolates. It wasn't overly busy and it was very dog friendly. The dog run seemed to be popular.”

β€œReally unexpected. Plenty of anymals to see, a really nice area for the children to play and a large area for parents to enjoy a good day out.”

β€œLovely local sanctuary that does amazing work, can get muddy on wet days. We spent about 2 hours here.”
