1 / 2Cholsey Farm Riding
π High Wycombe, Greater London
Riding destination for horse-owning families with 17 circular routes through the Chiltern Hills AONB, all pre-loaded on the OS Maps app. Accommodation in The Old Piggery, camping, paddocks, stables, and mounting blocks on site.
This was my third time staying at Cholsey Farm, and my mum's first time. It just gets better every year! I really like how all the routes have been set up on the OS Maps app now - this makes following the routes off your phone so easy. The paddocks at the farm are really well maintained and the human facilities are good too! We stayed in the horse trailer so cannot comment on The Piggery, but the toilet and shower facilities were nice and clean. My mum is quite a novice rider and Jackie and Ted were on hand every day to recommend the best rides for us. All the rides we completed were fantastic, with beautiful scenery and across a range of terrains. Both my Mum and I had a really fantastic weekend and will definitely be coming back again.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for horse-owning families planning a multi-night riding holiday in outstanding countryside. Jackie and Ted's detailed local knowledge and pre-mapped routes remove the navigation stress that typically accompanies rides in unfamiliar terrain.

βI thoroughly recommend a stay at Cholsey Farm. We stayed in the Old Piggery for a week, which had comfy beds, kitchen & super shower which got used a lot given it was 32 most days! Jackie & Ted have thought of everything, there are mapped routes in varying distances and beautiful hacking around the farm if you fancy a grassy canter and they are happy to give advice on routes according to your preference. Our horses were completely at home and enjoyed the grazing. After you have ridden there are so many things to do, pubs, swimming in the Thames, wineries to visit, stately homes & gardens etc etc. But by far the very best is a broom fight with Pip their beautiful collie π₯° Fantastic holiday ππ₯³β

βCholsey Farm Riding - Just Fab u lous! The Piggery has all you need for a fantastic riding holiday - with the best shower and comfy beds! Camping/caravan area also looked great - with one of the best views. Horse paddocks were perfect for our ponies, you didn't have to worry about them - they were relaxed out there the moment we turned them out - even made friends with the Guinea Fowl! Tack up area - perfect and quiet. Certainly the best hacking! with detailed maps, fantastic scenery, local pubs - we hardly met a car! Jackie and Ted were really helpful with maps/directions. The Fox pub - easy to walk to, warm and welcoming. We stayed 3 nights this time, we will be back in 2026 for longer!β

βTed and Jackie went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. They were on hand to give advice and had lots of info on hacking routes and nearby attractions. The fields were immaculate and safe and the camping field set in a beautiful location. I stayed in the piggery which was clean, well equipped, comfortable and close to my friends who were camping. I canβt recommend Cholsey farm highly enough, there was lovely hacking around the farm and surrounding areas and thoroughly recommend the hack to the Barn for lunch. We will definitely be back. Thanks so much Ted and Jackie it was perfect.β
