1 / 2Crocodiles of the World
π Brize Norton, South West
Indoor tropical zoo near Oxford featuring 19+ crocodilian species, rare Komodo dragons, meerkats, Galapagos tortoises, keeper experiences, and a 15-hole Gator Golf course. Year-round warmth makes it a strong rainy-day pick.
I finally visited Crocodiles of the World in October 2025, and overall had one of the best days ever! It's an excellent zoo with so many opportunities to learn about different crocodilian species. Seeing so many in one place, including critically endangered species, was remarkable. My favourites were Trig (a caiman, I think!) and Missile & Torpedo, the Cuban Crocs. We thought the zoo was a great size β I spent a long time observing each crocodile. We also loved the non-crocodilian animals outside, especially the Galapagos tortoises, which were the biggest we'd ever seen! I highly recommend attending the keeper talks and feedings throughout the day; watching how the crocodilesβ demeanour changes when food is involved is fascinating. My partner and I took part in the Nile Crocodile Feeding Experience, which was an incredible opportunity and absolutely worth the money. It was led by Lewis, who was super calm, professional, and laid-back, instantly putting us at ease (despite having 20+ hungry crocodiles staring up at us with their jaws open!). Lewis was extremely knowledgeable and answered all of our questions with enthusiasm β a perfect way to end the day. Crocodiles of the World is truly unique, and Iβd recommend it to people of all ages as a fun and educational day out. Learning about these magnificent, misunderstood animals is so important. Thanks so much guys!
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with curious children who want a genuinely specialist experience beyond a standard zoo visit. The indoor tropical environment makes it a reliable rainy-day destination. Feeding talks and underwater crocodile viewing are the standout moments.

βCrocodiles of the World is a real hidden gem and well worth a visit if you are anywhere near Oxford. We actually found it by chance while driving home after a day in Oxford and decided to stop in when we saw the sign. As a reptile lover, especially someone who likes tortoises, it turned out to be a great surprise. The highlight is getting to see crocodiles up close. If you have never seen one properly before, it is impressive. But it is not just crocodiles. There are tortoises, snakes, lizards and a good variety of reptiles, so anyone interested in them will feel right at home. There are also a few other animals such as meerkats. The zoo itself is quite compact but well laid out and easy to get around, and it is wheelchair friendly. There are lots of information boards around the park and regular feeding talks during the day, which makes it interesting for both adults and kids. The indoor areas are warm as well, which is nice on a cold day and almost feels like walking through a tropical house. It is a fun place for families and animal lovers alike. Experiences are also available, like the Galapagos tortoise experience, which is definitely worth considering. Overall it is a small but very interesting zoo with a lot to see. If you are passing through Oxford or looking for something a bit different to do, it is absolutely worth stopping by.β

βLoved loved loved Crocodiles of the World! We did the meerkat experience which is definitely worth Β£50. It was about half an hour in their enclosure, hand feeding them and hearing about meerkats. Their keeper - Mary was great. The rest of the zoo is really well kept, plenty of talks and feeding times and I loved seeing so many reptiles! There are two cafes, a little shop and clean toilets. The Nile crocodile feeling at midday was really interesting. Would definitely visit again.β

βReally enjoyed this very different experience with the family. Lots of indoor bits, so great for a rainy day. Lots to see and there are also some amazing feeding experiences available. Cafes onsite with friendly staff also. Well worth a visit, but gets very busy. Parking is tight, so be careful if you have a larger car.β
