1 / 3Deeside Leisure Centre and Ice Rink
đ Deeside, North West
Deeside Ice Arena is the home rink of North Wales ice skating and the celebrity training venue for ITV's Dancing on Ice. Public sessions run for all ages and abilities, with staff instructors on the ice throughout who offer pointers to beginners.
Did part of my cardio rehab there with support from NWRS who were / are excellent. If you are referred for cardio rehab then take it. Anyways, the gym is large and well equipped ta large variety of equipment. The main exercise halls are large and seem to cater for a bunch of things including badminton and pickleball. Cafe area has wide selection of hot and cold drinks and hot and cold snacks and is staffed by friendly people too.
đ Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children of any age who are new to ice skating â the instructors on the ice during public sessions actively help beginners without needing a formal lesson booked. The Christmas programme with Santa on ice, candy canes, and snow machines is a strong seasonal draw.

âAlways really good fun, free parking on site including disabled parking. Cafe on site for food and drinks. Depending on times of the day it does become very busy. Id recommend booking although this isn't essential because you can pay up on arrival. There are staff on the ice at all times during the public skate sessions. You can hire skates upon arrival or pre-book online when booking the skate session.â

âWe visited the Ice Rink. 2 hrs of fun with my daughter for her 11th birthday. Staff were great, and there were tutor's on the ice giving classes and were happy giving pointers to beginners that weren't a part of their lesson. We started by clawing at the barriers but were soon zipping around unaided.â

âWhat a friendly staff we had today. Two lovely, helpful girls were very patient and polite with us. It made the experience a lot nicer in total x I was there with 4 teenagers who never skated before and they had such a laugh. We loved the bananas too. Definitely will be back soon .â
