1 / 3Downham Health & Leisure Centre
📍 Bromley, Greater London
Community leisure centre with a 25m main pool, 10m learner pool, and Swim England-affiliated lessons for all ages. Baby and toddler sessions available. Free parking for two hours with re-registration at reception.
I had an excellent experience booking my swimming class over the phone with Yannic. His professionalism and patience made the whole process so easy and stress-free. He took the time to answer all my questions and made sure everything was perfectly arranged. Truly outstanding customer service! A big shoutout to Yannic again, you’re amazing!
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families committed to regular swimming lessons rather than one-off visits. The learner pool and baby sessions make it accessible from very young ages, and the Swim England partnership gives lessons credibility.

“I have been taking my children for swimming lessons at Downham leisure centre for over 3 years now, I started adult swimming lessons in the last year and I can say that our experience has been really satisfying. They have a wide range of lesson times for adults and children (less for adults). Their website and app are user friendly for making leisure swim bookings. Although, it can be hard to get through to Reception when one calls in, but once they pick up the phone, they are very helpful. I've had particularly positive experiences with one of their staff, a manager called Yannic recently. He dealt with my queries and the issues I had efficiently and effectively. Their fees are are affordable, even though they increase the monthly fees annually but only by about £2. Parking is free for a couple of hours and that can be extended by re-registering your vehicle after 2 hours at the reception. It can be difficult to find parking during busy periods but if one waits around, after about 5/10 minutes, spaces can become available. I noticed that the life guards regularly check the water temperature and they clean the pool and shower area too. I'm pleased with their service compared to other leisure centres I've used in the past and I cannot recommend them enough.”

“Such a lovely, clean and friendly environment. The receptionist Tia helped me back in December she was very kind, well spoken, supportive and friendly !! It's a shame to not have seen her as often at the front desk anymore but I did see Tia this week and she honestly made my anxiety disappear so I’m so grateful, but all the staff are lovely and helpful. Definitely recommend and thank you again to Tia as she is honestly one of a kind when it comes to staff :)”
