This is a magnificent location for a dog walk. Trails are well established and fairly extensive. There is parking, a play area for kids and magnificent views. The dog could walk on grass or pathway, but was not completely muddied when we got back. There is information about the wildlife as you walk along and the cafe, while not a particularly attractive building on the outside, was an excellent landmark to help find your bearings. I went on a day when the sky was cloudy and rain was due in the afternoon and I had a two-hour dry window.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for active families who want a free outdoor day combining wildlife, walking, and play. The zip wire alone makes the playground worth the trip for children aged 5 to 12. Bird hide visits add genuine educational value for older children and adults with an interest in estuary wildlife.

“An amazing place, open footpaths that are used and suitable for walkers, dog walkers (on leads), runners and cyclists. As you can see from the photos the views are great and the nature information are useful and interesting for kids and adults. The main building has a viewing platform on the roof and a cafe, with shop. There is a viewing hide with benches that I imagine would be popular with bird watchers. We are lucky to have this and I really hope people enjoy it for years to come, please use the cafe and they accept donations”

“Lovely round wooden building with a cute gift shop with lots of eco things and dog toys. The cafe look great but the food is disappointing, I had a very dry baked potato served on a tiny plate with no salad and my partner had some very go hum cheese on toast. A real missed opportunity as the cafe has wonderful views of the huge cranes of the container port and lots of incredible birds.”

“Great location on the banks of the Thames, free parking and good cafe and shop but for children brilliant park area with swings and various play apparatus the best zip wire ever according to my grandchildren Various length paths provide excellent walks with a number of bird hydes.”
