📍 Rochdale, North West
Interactive firefighting museum in Rochdale with 25 historic fire engines, hands-on exhibits, and volunteer retired firefighters providing personal accounts. Free parking on-site. On-site café. Plan for a two to three hour visit.
I rode my BMW motorbike to the museum, and was greeted by a member of staff who pointed out the best place to park, I was then able to leave my helmet behind the desk while I wandered around. The staff were very friendly and happy to chat, as retired firefighters they were proud of all the exhibits and the old station and it's history. The cafe served a great toasted sandwich and hot drink. Not a huge museum so perfect for a short stop before continuing my ride....🏍🚒👌 Thank you to all the staff and volunteers 👏
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for children aged 4 to 12 who are drawn to fire engines and emergency services. The retired firefighter volunteers make exhibits personal rather than static — they answer questions with real experience behind them. Two to three hours covers everything without rushing.

“Me and my son visited yesterday and had such a good time! It’s well laid out. With loads of adults to look at and read and the right amount for kids to do too. We had such an amazing time. Staff are so knowledgeable and friendly. There’s free parking on site which makes a big difference too.”
