1 / 3Hyde Park Boating
📍 London, Greater London
Pedal boat hire on Hyde Park's Serpentine Lake, giving families a water-level view of the park. Sessions run in 30 or 60-minute blocks. Cafe and pram-accessible paths nearby. Student discounts available.
We had such a relaxing time paddle boating on the lake! The park itself is massive and absolutely beautiful – a real green escape from the city buzz. The lake is pretty spacious, so even with a few other boats around, it still felt peaceful and uncrowded. The boats were easy to use, even if you’re not super fit (your legs will feel it after a bit though – bonus cardio!). We spent about 30–45 minutes gliding across the water, taking in the trees, ducks, and calm views. Really tranquil. If you go, I’d recommend bringing sunglasses and a bottle of water, especially on a sunny day. And maybe some snacks to enjoy by the water after – there were lots of quiet spots for a picnic. Great for couples, families, or just some quiet solo time with nature. Would definitely go again!
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children aged 6 and up who can contribute to pedalling — the Serpentine is large enough to feel like a real adventure and the park views from water level are genuinely distinctive. Sunny days make the experience significantly better. Younger children and toddlers can ride along as passengers.

“I was just passing by with a friend and we decided to do it on a whim. There are student discounts, even for international students! We didn't have our student cards, but the man at the desk was super nice and accepted our school certificates. It was 30 minutes of pure fun. It’s a bit of a leg workout, but it is so worth it! The water gives you a whole new perspective of the park and being surrounded by nature right in the heart of London makes it feel so special. It was such a relaxing yet funny experience definitely a memory I won't forget from my trip to London.”

“Pedal boating in Hyde Park on a sunny day is truly magical. Gliding across the water gives you a whole new perspective of the park and being surrounded by nature right in the heart of London makes it feel so special. It can be a bit of a workout so wear something comfortable but the views and peaceful atmosphere are absolutely worth it. Perfect for a relaxing afternoon, a romantic outing or just a fun way to enjoy the park from a unique angle.”

“This place offers something fun to distract from the quiet, serene feel of Hyde park. I recommend a promenade down Perpentine road capped with a fun ride on the lake and then a tour of the gift shop for some memorabilia.”
