1 / 2Lakeside Miniature Railway
đ Southport, North West
A miniature railway running between Pleasureland and the pier, popular with children for the ride itself. Tracks are well maintained; surrounding station buildings show significant wear.
Really well maintained miniature railway. Always popular with the kids and older kids.
đ Family Action Verdict
Best for families whose children love miniature railways and are happy with the ride as the main event. The Pleasure Beach end offers the better starting point for facilities. Families expecting a polished heritage attraction will find the ageing infrastructure disappointing â the appeal is the train journey itself, not the surroundings.

âGreat customer service - we got to the station just after the train departed and it came back to get us! One star subtracted because it's not a real steam engine! đâ

âNice for the kids but parts of it are in desperate need of repair. Building has been demolished at the pier end of the line and nothing much there in facilities. The Pleasure Beach end of the line is better, but parts of the engine shed are falling off. Bits of unused tracks litter the site around the station area.â

Overview
Lakeside Miniature Railway runs a miniature train between the Pleasure Beach end and the pier end of Southport's waterfront. Staff are attentive â one reviewer reported the train reversed course to collect a family who just missed departure. The Pleasure Beach terminus has better facilities than the pier end, where station buildings have deteriorated considerably. Tracks remain in good condition.
