1 / 2Life Leisure Houldsworth Village
π Reddish, North West
Fitness facility in Reddish with refurbished strength gym, Greater Manchester's first indoor Padel court, HYROX zone, badminton, and Life Leisure Kids programmes for ages 5-12.
Only been to gym, but itβs actually great with following equipment - 4 squat / deadlift platforms - DBs up to 60kg - 1 half decent combo rack for bench (a little low) + another standard bench - big open area with sled track + resistance bands, balls etc - quite a big array of machines over 2 areas - ridiculous amount of cardio machines + some not so common cardio machines Cons - Olympic bars are all pretty trash, there is a lot of them at least. Would be unreal if there were 1 or 2 good power bars. - random assortment of weight plates, but doesnβt actually change how heavy they are! There are number of Paralympic bench presses and a number of people who train there on them, pretty cool! Tags: powerlifting, strength training, bench press, squat rack, power bar, weightlifting.
π Family Action Verdict
Best suited to fitness-focused families with teenagers or adults seeking quality strength and cardio equipment. Kids aged 5-12 have structured programmes. Families wanting a low-key leisure swim or casual drop-in may find the facility's gym-forward setup less aligned to their needs.

βGreat gym equipment and decent other facilities. People seem to be loving the new paddle court. Small gripes like the current app for getting into the gym is a bit temperamental so takes a min to get through the door and secondly the showers often have off smells inside them.β

βGood spacious gym with lots of squat racks. Cons - opening times 8-5 on weekends? Paying Β£10 for gym classes surely this could be included in price?β

Overview
Life Leisure Houldsworth Village offers a fully refurbished gym with four squat and deadlift platforms, dumbbells to 60kg, a dedicated HYROX training zone, and a large open sled track area. The facility adds Greater Manchester's first indoor Padel court, badminton courts, group exercise classes, StrongHer weightlifting courses, and stay-and-play toddler sessions. The gym access app occasionally needs extra time at entry, and weekend capacity is reduced.
