I have been bringing my friend to the riding school twice a week for a number of years, as a lifelong rider who now has a disability he gains immense pleasure from his sessions, it’s excellent for his physical & mental well being, Gwen his instructor has been helpful in every sense of the word, her knowledge & understanding of everything equine is impressive & she always gives excellent advice & finds solutions to any problems. If you are wanting to get riding or improve your riding I would highly recommend her as a instructor. She has helped david regain his confidence & improve his riding so much.Shout out to Karen, Charlotte, Phil & all the volunteers who put 100% into helping everyone have a great riding experience. Amazing local facility ….

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for families with children who have special educational needs or disabilities, particularly those who have been told other riding schools cannot accommodate them. Staff and volunteers adapt activities individually β€” grooming and pony care are offered for children who cannot ride, so no child leaves without meaningful engagement.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Contact the centre by phone or email before your first visit to discuss any specific needs or adaptations required
⏰Grooming sessions are available as an alternative for children who cannot or prefer not to ride
🎟️School holiday pony days are a lower-commitment way to introduce a child to the centre before committing to lessons
πŸš—Older children who develop a passion for horses can explore volunteering opportunities at the centre

β€œWe are a group of adults with learning disabilities and we had a fantastic time at Margaret Haes today. The staff were helpful and supportive to the riders and they organised a grooming session for those who couldn't ride. They were responsive when organising it through phone and email too Thank you very much”
