Amazing!!! I've been recommending it to everyone ever since. The thing I've been recommending the most is the planetarium, definitely take some time in your trip to see a show, 1 show is free with entry, any more has a fee of I think £5? Don't take my word for it haha The very friendly and knowledgeable person at reception gives you a map, shows you where the planetarium is and answers any questions you may have. I went to an interactive counter where a lady was showing (mostly children but also me) rocks from space and we had to guess with magents and magnifying glasses which one was from Earth. Great day alone or for groups of any sizes.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for families with children aged 5 and above who have any interest in space, science, or engineering. The planetarium is the standout attraction and worth planning the visit around. Afternoons are less busy than mornings. The included annual return pass makes a repeat visit easy and adds long-term value to the entry cost.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

Visit after midday for a calmer experience with shorter waits

The museum offers a fantastic experience for both kids and adults. Parking is plentiful, though it can get busy during the holidays, which only adds to the great atmosphere. The exhibits cover the history of space travel, rockets, and a range of fascinating technologies. It’s a very family‑friendly place, complete with a café, a shop, and engaging live talks and interactive shows. With the added bonus of a free one‑year return pass, it’s absolutely worth a visit. Museum staff are friendly. Museum is less busy after 1-2pm.

Absolutely brilliant, this is my 2nd visit, my last being 20 years ago. Lots has changed, for the better, so much to see and plenty of hands on stuff for the kids. The Sir Patrick Moore planetarium is a must, especially the "One step beyond" showing, which is roughly 30 minutes, this was the highlight of our day and also the sight of the Thor Rocket which is housed here. The cafe is also pretty good and reasonably priced with a great selection ot items.

Well worth a trip. Lots of things to look at, good mix of real artifacts and narrative. Was very busy on the day we went but this don't stop it being a good day. There is a mini cafe which is surprisingly reasonably priced and lots of seating etc. planateriun was good too. Had to wait a bit to get in and the parking is a bit limited but managed it ok
