Wow! I had the most amazing time at Quarry Farm riding school yesterday! As a complete novice who’s only prior interaction with a horse was at a petting zoo as a child or through tapping X on my games console in red dead redemption to try and calm one down, I was a little nervous. I had never ridden before, but that was not an issue as the staff at Quarry Farm could not do enough to help teach me and reassure me. The session starts with a friendly atmosphere where you get to say hello to horses in the stables before you get kitted up with all your safety equipment. You are shown to your horse by the stable hands and instructor who helps you to get your leg over. Then without knowing it, you are up really high and sitting on a horse! After a slight adjustment of my stirrups and a quick fiddle of my girth, I was ready to go. The staff lead us out slowly to the amazing facilities that include a fully equipped training area (with it’s own mirror!) My instructor Jemma took me through all the basics of how to hold the reins, start, stop and turn and before long I was bouncing up and down while trotting along. The horses were good as gold but at the same time bursting with personality. My horse Luna was a cheeky one who always wanted to move around to see what was going on, but listened to my commands without fail. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Quarry Farm riding school and recommend them for all your horsey needs! and if you ask really nicely the staff there will happily make you feel like a pretty little unicorn.

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

well-suited to families seeking a long-term equestrian experience rather than a one-off activity. The structured progression from stable introduction through to arena work and Pony Club badges suits children who want to build genuine horsemanship.
