1 / 2Ruislip Lido Railway
π Ruislip, Greater London
Miniature railway running around Ruislip Lido lake through ancient woodland between Woody Bay and Willow Lawn stations. Wheelchair and pushchair-accessible trains. Steam locomotive Mad Bess runs on selected weekends.
Lido Railway was a fantastic experience where kids will enjoy thoroughly. It's very cheap. There is a long train along the lake which will take us to different planets. Plenty of parking but bit expensive. Big park where we can do picnic. Nice place for a perfect weekend on sunny weather.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with young children and train enthusiasts of any age. The woodland ride is genuinely scenic and the surrounding lido area extends the day naturally with picnic space, woodland trails, and an outdoor gym. Steam weekends with Mad Bess are worth timing a visit around.

βWe had a great time riding the Ruislip Lido Railway. The trip takes roughly ten to fifteen minutes on one side, but the scenery is stunning. Additionally, the facilities are excellent and the personnel is nice. All in all, families and children had a pleasant experience.β

Overview
Ruislip Lido Railway operates on Britain's longest 12-inch gauge track, circling the lido lake through Ruislip Woods. The 10β15 minute journey runs between two stations with diesel traction most days and steam locomotive Mad Bess on selected weekends. Trains are pushchair and wheelchair accessible. Passengers can watch the locomotive turn on the turntable at journey end. The surrounding lido and woodland area is expansive, with a cafe on site and open green space for picnics.
