Our Pony visit was better than we expected. . As two senior citizens we were a little skeptical this might be more of a child’s activity, but we were thoroughly engaged with learning, interacting, brushing and walking the ponies, as well as hearing the fascinating history of the farm. Rosemary was a delightful host with a plethora of fascinating information. We loved every minute of our time there, and we were so glad we challenged ourselves taking our first train ride from London to get there, because it was super easy for two Americans unfamiliar with England’s rail system. Rosemary’s hospitality was outstanding, and we are super excited to show our grandchildren her daughter’s book about the Pony and share with them what we saw. Rosemary’s obvious love of the Ponies made it a very endearing experience.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for children aged 3 to 10 wanting a first pony experience with professional, patient staff in a genuinely scenic outdoor setting. Groups of all ages including grandparents have rated the experience highly. The hilltop location is exposed — warm layers and wind-proof clothing are worth bringing regardless of forecast.

“The Shetland Pony Club was a sheer delight from beginning to end. The Halloween Pumpkin Ride was cleverly worked out and the whole experience gradually drew in my two grandchildren (4 & 8) from the beginning. They loved it. The staff and owner Rosemary were clearly very experienced at looking after small children as well as the ponies and their smart tweed uniforms are perfectly in harmony with everything. The hilltop site has magnificent views and good facilities and I glad to have brought a thick coat against the rather gusty wind which sometimes blows hard. This place provides a wonderful outdoor experience as well as being a fantastic local asset. I can’t praise it highly enough”

“We were blown away by the whole experience. Our two girls joined for the half-day pony camp. It ran for four days and each day had a different theme. Shetland Pony Club is set in the most beautiful location, with great attention to detail given to every aspect of the experience… from the staff uniforms, the beautifully decorated undercover area, to the grooming area. Our girls had a wonderful time, and we will definitely be back!”
