A beautiful park to visit for a walk or a picnic with family, it's a shame the tropical conservatory is no longer here, it has some beautiful exotic plants in it. The bird sanctuary is lovely, birds of all kinds are well looked after. There is a nice little train ride that you can take a ride in around the park which is great for kids. The cafe is good, simple but friendly staff and clean. The food is nice and the toilets are clean. The park has a Victorian walk that you can do with little waterfalls and bridges, it's off the main paths so can be a bit muddy in parts. Also I'd like to mention the Adorable Squirrel friends of the park that love to come and see what food you have for them, they are not shy to get up close and will take nuts out of your hands if your calm and gentle. I definitely would recommend a visit it's a great place to go for a Sunday walk and a summers day.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for families with children aged 2–10 who want a low-cost day out with genuine variety. The water fountain zone is the headline draw in summer — bring a change of clothes as children get thoroughly wet. The bird sanctuary and squirrel feeding add a nature element that younger children find memorable.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

Arrive early on summer weekends to find street parking; nearby car parks offer all-day rates
🎟️Mini train rides are a paid activity — bring small change
🚗The bird sanctuary is well maintained and a good stop for younger children

I love this park! I visited for the first time. Lots of on street parking however if it gets full there are car parks close by and really cheap - around £2.00 for all day! Can pay cheaper for less amount of hours too. The park provides a little train ride for all families to enjoy around the park - a small charge of £1.50. They also have water sprinklers where children can enjoy wet play. It ilreally is lots of fun for the whole family. SAND area is lovely and clean. They also have an aviary with lots of hens, chickens and budgies - fantastic. Stamford Park have lovely gardens full of bloomed flowers to enjoy a lovely scenic walk as well as ice cream vans to enjoy. Highly recommend to all!

A lovely traditional park with lots to see and do. The park has good play areas for the little ones which includes a water fountain play area in the summer months. A lovely coffee shop in the centre of the park with an ice cream van present near the play areas for most of the warmer months. There are also bowling greens, a duck pond and aviary with various types of birds to look at. Worth a visit if you're in the area and an excellent way to kill a few hours for free.

There's a good selection of play areas. A sand pit type of play area, a climbing frame type of play area. Huge fields. In the summer they turn the fountains on and the kids seem to like it. There's also a cafe. Parking can be tough in the summertime.
