1 / 3The Big Play Barn
📍 Tamworth, West Midlands
Spacious indoor play centre with a drop slide, rope bridges, air cannons, and a dedicated baby and toddler zone. Covered outdoor bouncy pillow, cooked-to-order cafe with halal and vegetarian options, and popular birthday party packages.
recently visited The Big Play Barn in Birmingham and was genuinely impressed with the whole experience. It’s a fantastic venue for families looking for a safe, clean and engaging environment where children can burn off energy and have fun. The play areas are thoughtfully designed, with plenty to keep children of different ages entertained. There’s a large soft play structure with slides, climbing frames and obstacle sections that keep older kids active and challenged. The toddler area is equally well planned, offering a separate, secure space where little ones can explore safely without being overwhelmed by bigger children. Cleanliness is clearly a priority. During our visit, the equipment and seating areas were well maintained, and staff were regularly checking and tidying. That attention to detail gives real peace of mind to parents. The café area is another highlight. There’s a good selection of drinks and snacks, and the seating allows adults to relax while still keeping an eye on the play zones. The staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient, helping to create a relaxed and positive atmosphere throughout. Overall, The Big Play Barn is an excellent choice for a family outing in Birmingham. It combines fun, safety and comfort in a way that makes both children and parents happy to return.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children aged 5 to 12 who want a high-energy indoor session. Toddlers have their own dedicated area away from older children. Midweek visits are noticeably quieter than weekends. Birthday party packages are well reviewed — book well ahead. The adjacent farm means families can extend the visit outdoors without moving the car.

“Great soft play next to the farm. We use this one regularly without going to the farm. Kids able to run around for a couple hours while you can sit having a coffee & cake. Have eaten meals here a few times and food is good quality. Vegetarian and kid halal options available. My kids love the steep slides (1 of them only open after school/weekends/holidays). Would be good if they invested in some more foam balls for the air powered guns as a lot of them are broke in half. The air pillows are great. Ninja area is always fun for the kids. Had many party areas, all utilised when went on the weekend. Try to go in the week if you can as is a LOT quieter. You can tell in the pics which is mid week and which is weekend! Still didn’t have trouble finding a table though at the weekend even if it did seem chaotic.”

“We hosted our daughter's 4th birthday party at the Play Barn on the 15th February. Our host was Imogen, and she was absolutely wonderful. From start to finish I had a great experience hosting our daughter's birthday party there. Due to Imogen's lovely personality we gelled with her straight away as well as the kids. She was kind natured, sweet, softly spoken and very very helpful. We hardly did anything because Imogen had done everything for us. A fab host thank you Imogen for making my daughter's 4th birthday special. X X X”

“A nice family day out at the farmhouse along with children indoor soft play area. Activities for children to go for are Pillow & Ninja Club. Best for 5-12 years age group. Economical tickets and tasty food including Halal Chicken Nuggets. They also have Birthday Party plans for groups ranging from 8 - 35 persons. Recommended to try atleast once.”
