1 / 3The Household Cavalry Museum
π London, Greater London
Living museum in the historic Horse Guards building with three galleries of ceremonial uniforms, military artefacts, and a stable viewing window where working horses are visible throughout the day.
The place is fascinating, even if youβre just passing through. Seeing the horses up close, learning about their history, and checking out the ceremonial uniforms makes you appreciate their role in British tradition. Itβs small but engaging, and a must-see for anyone curious about Londonβs royal pageantry.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for school-age children fascinated by horses, royal ceremony, or British military history. The stable viewing window is the standout for younger kids. Compact enough for a focused 45-minute visit β pairs naturally with other Whitehall sights on the same day. Arrive early on weekdays to avoid tour-group congestion.

βThe parade is very well organized, the horses are magnificent, and the officers look very elegant and impeccable. It's a beautiful tradition that underscores the importance of each changing of the guard. Beautiful, elegant, and traditionally military.β

βA fairly small museum just off Horseguards Parade but full of information about the Household Calvary, and lots of uniforms. Also has a small shop. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area and have an hour to kill.β

βAwesome place to visit you can see the mounted horse men canβt get very, very busy due to a tourist destination. I would advise getting there early in the morning where you can have a unobstructive views of a Horseman.β
