First time visiting and we was pleasantly surprised. Didn’t realise how much was there. Animals were out and come to you for food. Activities for kids to do walking round and extra surprises to collect. Great park with lots of seating, the staff are friendly and actually talk to you (which is rare these days) Santa grotto was good and the character visit made the day extra special as you got to spend lots of time with him and kept seeing him during the walk (blue alien) our daughter who can’t always control her emotions kept running for a cuddle but the elf and blue alien were very tolerable and patient with her which is a huge bonus for us. The butterfly house was amazing with so many butterflies and even a crocodile, staff fetch out other critters for show and tell and the elf workshop had lots of activities and party with blue alien, the elf was an amazing singer with a great persona around children. Honestly all 3 of us had the best day. Thank-you so much. Can’t wait for next visit.

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for families with children who want animals to come to them rather than viewing behind barriers. The warm butterfly house provides a reliable indoor anchor on cooler or wet days. Children with additional needs are particularly well served β€” staff maintain a visible, supportive presence without being overbearing.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Visit on a dry day for the best outdoor animal visibility β€” wet days reduce how many animals are out
⏰Ask about a rainy-day return voucher if weather significantly affects your visit
🎟️Wear waterproof footwear β€” outdoor paths can be muddy in wet conditions
πŸš—The warm butterfly house is a reliable indoor option on cold or showery days

β€œOur second visit here and it was just like the first time amazing with lots of lovely animals to see, you can easily spend the whole day here, however on this occasion we went nearer the closing time and it was raining and not many of the animals were out but we still had the best time, they have so many lovely birds and the variety of butterfly species each one as gorgeous as the other. The staff right from upon entering and to the end were absolutely amazing and so friendly. Definitely worth more visits, and a day very well spent!! Definitely recommend!!”

β€œMe and my partner went here for a day out and it was more than worth it! The day we went was a cold January weekday with off and on rain and the bird exhibition was closed due to gov regulations, but we were pleasantly surprised to recieve a rainy day voucher for a return trip! As two adults we didn't even mind the weather, especially as the butterfly house was lovely and warm haha. Was a lovely day out, the butterflies were our main reason for visiting but the other enclosures were lovely especially the tropical birds and meerkats!”

β€œI loved the place. So much to see for every age. One issue. We has pulled pork rolls in the butterfly cafe. They looked good but we're swimming in grease. It meant that the rolls were sodden and the meal sat very heavily on the stomach. This spoiled our afternoon.”
