This model engineering society has a remarkably long multi gauge elevated track which runs round the edge of the park. There are multiple steaming bays for locomotive preparation and disposal. Topped off with a brick built clubhouse building for members. The picture shows a 5" gauge American Big Boy" on a steaming bay.

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for families with toddlers and young children who are fascinated by trains and want a genuine community railway rather than a commercial attraction. The enthusiastic volunteers create a warm atmosphere that delights children aged 2–5 in particular.

β€œTruly a hidden gem in Manchester. I first went on this almost 30 years ago and it’s remarkable that this is still going to this day. I hope it continues for decades to come. Great job!”
