Overall I like this gym, I haven’t done any of the classes and primarily use it for weight lifting to support my outdoor sports and physio exercises. The only thing I would change would be the etiquette of some members (which maybe management could help with), some members choose to place their gym bags, coats, and belongings throughout the gym floor rather than use the provided lockers (trip hazard and makes the gym look messy). Lastly, it seems to be common practice that some members feel they do not need to put away weights when they are done with them (literally a full dead lift set up in the middle of the gym floor), this always does my head in (this isn’t your house and staff members aren’t your mom, clean up after yourselves). The facilities themselves are decent and they have everything you need to get a good workout in and I’ve never had an issue getting equipment otherwise.

Absolutely Disgusting Hygiene – Utterly Unacceptable! I honestly don’t understand how this gym is still operating under such revolting conditions. The stench hits you the second you walk in – a nauseating blend of sweat, damp, and something unidentifiably foul. It’s as if basic hygiene doesn’t exist here. Quite frankly, it’s shameful. Let’s talk about the changing rooms – or should I say biohazard zones? The women’s toilets are currently under renovation, which means we’re being forced to use the men’s toilets. But those facilities are a complete nightmare. They are so filthy and so poorly maintained that it’s traumatic just to look at them, let alone use them. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. The benches? Covered in grime. The lockers? They stink of damp, socks, and misery. I wouldn’t even place a plastic bag down in that space, let alone my gym belongings. It genuinely feels like nothing has been cleaned in years. Now for the showers… it’s a miracle they’re still standing. I used the accessible shower today and honestly feared for my life. Water was pouring from the ceiling – you don’t even need to turn the shower on, it’s already raining indoors. The entire ceiling is black with mould, warped, and looks like it could collapse at any moment. It’s a serious health hazard. How on earth are we expected to wash ourselves under something that dangerous? If I worked at this gym, I would be mortified. Deeply ashamed. They raise the prices every year and for what? Facilities like these? Honestly, I should be asking for a refund – because every time I use those bathrooms, I feel like I’m going to catch something. And I don’t even want to think about parents who bring babies. Have you even looked at the state of the baby changing areas? You should be ashamed. A baby could easily pick up an infection from that filth. It’s downright irresponsible. Do you even have cleaners on staff? If so, either they’ve given up or they’ve walked out. What this place needs is a proper industrial deep clean – and I’m talking hazmat-suit level. And it needs to happen now, not whenever it’s convenient for you. This is no longer about comfort, it’s a matter of health and safety. Yes, you’ve made some upgrades in the gym area, which is all well and good – but what’s the point of improving one side of the building while the toilets remain in this disgraceful condition? If things are old and falling apart, fine – but the very least you can do is keep them clean. Proper cleaning makes a massive difference, even when something’s worn down. Pull yourselves together and sort out those changing rooms – it’s embarrassing!

Been going to this village Ashton using the fitness club now for 7+years, I have to say this is the worst condition I have seen it & the worst management there has been so far.. the sauna is consistently broken for one thing or another ,waiting weeks for it to be fixed, the steam room is full of black mould, the seats in the steam room are slimy to sit on and I can honestly say I have never seen a member of staff come in a clean the steam room or sauna with such a high turn over this should be done on a regular basis, when I have spoken to staff members about this I was told it’s cleaned once at night… if you like a swim prepare to have bits hitting your feet the corners of the pool always have build up in them pile’s of dirt and debre and when questioning the staff on it they say it is from that day, the jacuzzi pool is just as bad the rails to go down the steps are slimy and the amount of chlorine used burns your eyes, I have seen staff members sweep the dirty pool side water back into the actual swimming pool instead of the drain provided & to top it of as a women you are stared at by seedy men whilst trying to enjoy some peace. The gym is a mess…equipment everywhere dumbbells missing and overly busy at peak time to the point your lucky to get a machine since the gym has been refurbished the footfall is ridiculous I understand they have to make their money back but the other amenities have not been improved for the amount of people currently attending the gym. Village you have well and truly become a disappointment but sadly you lock people into contracts, even when you have a rolling contract you need to give 3 months notice to cancel this is ridiculous your a money making greedy company! standards are low, staff blatantly have no hygiene training and the place is falling to bits 60 pound a month to potentially catch a disease 🦠
