1 / 3Wellcome Collection
π London, Greater London
Free museum with permanent and rotating exhibitions on health, science and human culture. The upstairs Reading Room combines curated books with art installations. Step-free access throughout, BSL interpretation available.
Fascinating museum which I accidentally came across. Turned out to be the highlight of a trip to London. The Wellcome Collection offers unique exhibitions about health and human experience. I visited the Thirst, 1880 That and Being Human exhibits which were all fascinating. They also have an interesting gift shop where I was able to purchase some interesting books which they publish themselves. Entry is free and its within walking distance of the British Museum
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with curious older children and teenagers who engage with science, history and social themes. The rotating exhibitions cover genuinely unusual topics that prompt discussion. Younger children can enjoy the visual elements of the Reading Room.

βIf youβre near Kingβs Cross with an hour to spare, skip the station cafes and come here. The Wellcome Collection is a total mood. Their rotating exhibitions are always deeply human, but the real star is the Reading Room upstairs. Itβs a library with crazy cool decor and art mixed with books. It feels like a cozy, eccentric laboratory. Super accessible (only a 10-minute walk from the station) and a perfect quiet escape.β

βWent to 3 interesting exhibitions at the Wellcome Collection - Thirst - In search of Freshwater, Being Human, 1880 That and Finger Talk. The Thirst exhibitions was interesting and informative sharing information on the importance of communities accessing freshwater. Quite shocking to learn only 3% of the water on Earth being freshwater. There are artworks and artefacts displayed at the Reading Room. All exhibitions are free. Friendly staffs. Cafe, free lockers and toilet available. Nearest Tube station - Euston, Euston Square, Warren Street Station.β
