1 / 3Wimbledon Leisure Centre and Spa
📍 London, Greater London
Swimming pools with reliable lane availability, fitness studio with highly rated class programme, gym floor, and spa facilities. Free parking on site. Staff consistently praised for professionalism.
Sad to be leaving! Been a member for just over 4 years. Good size gym, plentiful equipment. Great to see the development of the site with the updates/works done to the gym and changing rooms over the years. Now please fix the flooring in the gym! Cannot recommend the classes enough. Sandra’s yoga is very thorough and well explained. As a regular, I saw great improvement in my flexibility, and good to have variations for different abilities. Dahlias Pilates are very well explained and light hearted. Top marks to Waz and his many classes! Committed to building a good class structure and dedicated to making new routines. I was a regular at Pump, Conditioning and Spin, and felt myself getting fitter and stronger. Such a shame to be moving out of the area, otherwise I would still be a member. There are so many gyms in Wimbledon now, and Waz’s classes are what retained me. Will greatly miss the friendly environment , good energy and community feel from his classes.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with active parents who want structured fitness classes alongside pool access in a genuinely friendly community venue. Lane availability is consistently good and the fitness class quality is high. Spa access is secondary — reliability is shift-dependent and the showers have unresolved maintenance.

“I am absolutely delighted with the Wimbledon Leisure Centre. The welcome is fantastic, especially Dennis, who was incredibly helpful from the very beginning. He took the time to help me set up my weekly membership and made everything very easy. Every time I go there, it’s a real pleasure. I can take my time and enjoy the facilities. The centre is spacious and very well equipped, with plenty of machines in the gym, so you never feel cramped. The swimming pool is also very pleasant, with few people in the lanes, which makes it possible to swim properly and enjoy your session. The staff are very friendly and attentive. I truly recommend this centre, and you will be very well welcomed by Dennis when you arrive.”

“I have now been attending Better Gym in South Wimbledon for the third time, and I am truly impressed. The manager, Marc, was outstanding — respectful, attentive, and very professional. I also met the assistant manager this afternoon, and he was equally wonderful and welcoming. The gym area was extremely clean, and the showers were spotless as well. I even noticed that they clean the showers every 30 minutes, which really shows their commitment to hygiene. The staff working at the swimming pool are also amazing — they ensure both cleanliness and safety throughout the facility. Honestly, I am very happy with my experience and will definitely continue my membership. Thank you to the whole team!”

“I have been a member now for 7 months, I only go to use the spa. I have noticed a pattern when certain people are in, the spa does not seem to be up to par. When I come on other days and other people are running the spa all seems to be well excluding the shower which is still broken and very inconvenient! I had a spa session yesterday Friday 6th March booked in for 11am-1pm. Please tell me why the steam room was stone cold and no steam what so ever it was like it had just been switched on. Now for someone who cannot use the sauna because of health conditions that left me with only the Hydrotherapy Pool to use, this is very poor considering I pay £78 a month and I ended up cutting my spa session short only spent an hour in there yesterday because of this. If you are able to book a session for 11am the spa should be fully ready and operational for use at that time. I like to come early to avoid the rush of people as it is only a small spa and when there is a lot of people in there it is very hard to relax with the coming and goings of people and their loud conversations. Could we please strive for the spa to be ready at 11am for those of us who do book at that time as no one wants a freezing cold steam room, cold haram benches and a broken shower that was supposed to be fixed this week but still broken. I must praise the American lady that is there from time to time as she seems to run a tight ship when there and everything is perfect I think people should follow her lead.”

Overview
Wimbledon Leisure Centre runs a pool with good lane availability, a gym floor, fitness studios, and spa facilities. The class programme — particularly yoga and aquafit — draws repeat praise from members. Front desk staff, specifically Dennis, receive consistent mentions for going beyond standard service. Spa reliability varies by shift; shower maintenance is a known outstanding issue. Birthday parties available.
