1 / 2Athelstan Playground
π Kingston upon Thames, Greater London
Renovated free playground in Kingston upon Thames with a popular zipline, sandpit, and varied equipment for multiple age groups. Pram access and nearby parking available.
Recently renovated playground with a lot of games even a sandpit and a zipline. Now they are adding trees too. The only issue is that the opening hours of the toilet is unpredictable and also cleaned probably once every 10 years...
π Family Action Verdict
A strong local playground for families with children of mixed ages, from toddlers through primary school. The zipline is the standout draw and the equipment variety keeps multiple children occupied at once. Plan toilet stops before you arrive, as on-site facilities are unreliable.

βGood variety of play equipment suitable for several age ranges, equipment appears well maintained but the ground around needed a clean up. Such a pity that parents allow children to just drop food packets and discarded unfinished food, the pigeons were enjoying it but I guess come the dark hours the rats would be there as well. Quite crowded but kids well behaved with parents close to hand. It was a pity to find the gents public toilet closed for repair! I begin to understand why the locals are complaining, all parking is now on meter, but that's down to the Town council. My grandaughter thoroughly enjoyed her hour of play.β

βGreat local rec- exercise, dog walk and small playground. Bins regularly cleaned. Shame about the ' chip club' clientale takeaway clientale shovelling their used card board boxes into the rubbisn bins and filling them up prematurely. But dont let that put you off.β

Overview
Athelstan Playground was recently renovated with new equipment across several age ranges, anchored by a zipline that draws repeat visits. The sandpit and climbing structures round out a strong equipment mix. Free entry with pram-friendly access. Toilet facilities are present on-site and their hours and cleanliness are inconsistent. The surrounding area can accumulate litter, particularly near food waste.
