1 / 2Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Park
π Birmingham, West Midlands
Compact urban wildlife park featuring red pandas, Komodo dragons, ring-tailed lemurs, otters, meerkats, wallabies, and an inseparable pair of parrots. Focused on endangered species conservation with pram-friendly paths and on-site parking.
We visited the nature centre for a school trip and had an unbelievable day. A huge personal thank you to Colin one of the conservationists that worked there for making the experience so fun, engaging, and memorable for everyone. One of our pupils even said it was the best trip they had ever been on! The opportunity for the children to spend time with the giant tortoises and monkeys was truly special and something they will be talking about for a long time. Thank you all for such a fantastic day β we will definitely be returning in the future.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families wanting an intimate wildlife experience close to Birmingham city centre without driving to a large-scale zoo. Children respond strongly to the otters and red pandas. Staff quality is high and inconsistent β seek out the conservationists like Colin who genuinely animate the visit.

βReally enjoyed our visit to this lovely wildlife park. Thereβs so many lovely animals to visit, including some that arenβt regulars in most zoos/animal parks! We stopped in for a hot chocolate in the cafe too as it was quite cold, and this was lovely. The park isnβt as big as it initially appears as the maps displayed around the area arenβt up to date, so a lot of the animals are either no longer there or have moved/condensed. Still a fab visit, and would recommend!β

βThey donβt have a huge variety of species, and the zoo itself isnβt very big β but itβs well-organized, and you can tell they truly care for the animals. My favorites are the otters and the parrots. Iβm pretty sure the parrots are a couple because theyβre absolutely inseparable β always cuddling and kissing each other. The otters are just adorable! They actually respond when you call them and sometimes even perform little tricks if they like you. Thereβs also a massive Komodo dragon β gosh, that beast is terrifying! Another fun spot is the stone bed for fossil hunting. If you look closely, you might actually find a real fossil. And finally, the amazing turtle β last time I visited, it had three tiny babies. Absolutely beautiful. I hope youβll enjoy it as much as I did!β

Overview
Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Park packs red pandas, Komodo dragons, lemurs, meerkats, otters, wallabies, and an extensive monkey collection into a walkable city site. Enclosures are spacious and meticulously maintained. The conservation mission is front and centre β staff explain each species' status. School groups get hands-on tortoise encounters. A cafe serves hot food including pasties on cold days. Signage and maps are outdated so ask staff for current animal locations.
