1 / 3Blue Planet Aquarium
π Ellesmere Port, Merseyside
Indoor aquarium in Ellesmere Port featuring Europe's largest shark collection, interactive rock pools, daily shark dives with commentary, octopus feeding, and birthday party packages. Easy access from Cheshire Oaks.
Blue Planet Aquarium is a brilliant place to visit and a great way to spend a few hours, whether youβre going as a family or just looking for something fun and educational to do. Itβs an excellent learning experience for children, with plenty to see, do, and discover throughout the visit. There are talks and animal feedings scheduled at different times during the day, which make the experience even more engaging. Iβd highly recommend catching the octopus talk and feeding, as well as the shark talk, where divers actually go into the tank to demonstrate what they do - itβs amazing to watch! The aquarium is well laid out, with lots of fascinating marine life and interactive displays. Overall, Blue Planet is a fun, educational, and memorable day out
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children of all ages who are drawn to marine life and hands-on learning. The diver talk inside the shark tank is the highlight β plan your arrival to catch it. Toddlers engage well with the touch tanks and rock pools.

βRevisited 08/03/2026, Still a great place to visit. Went here as a filler for a few hours. I was really impressed. Staff were lovely as usual at these places (coz they love it, who wouldn't). I've been to a few of these, fish swimming around very claiming. There's area where you can interact with various sea creatures., had fun there. The big tank is impressive. I've been to the one they have in Oberhausen which is BIG and this one was smaller but not to much. Good day out and definitely fun for kids.β

βThis place was so much better then I expected. We had no wait to get in. We managed to catch the shark show which was very informative and kept everyone gripped. I would definitely go again. Great for children of all ages. There is also a playground however the rain stopped us making use of it. The cafe seemed to have a good selection and plenty of seating. Most things are accessible with a pram. Fab.β

βVisited in Feb half term, it was busy but not unbearably busy. Lots for the kids to see and do and the fish didnt disappoint with some big ones! Only thing negative is its not very well sign posted inside so ended up repeating a few bits because we didnt want to miss anything! Better that sea life and didnt feel like we were being hearded through.β

Overview
Blue Planet Aquarium houses Sand Tiger Sharks, Nurse Sharks, and dozens of other species, with daily talks delivered by divers in the main tank. Interactive exhibits include rock pools and touch tanks. The octopus feeding is a standout for younger children. Birthday party packages are available. The cafe is on-site and expensive β a packed lunch is a practical alternative. Visiting towards the end of the day reduces crowding significantly.
