1 / 3Branston Water Park
đ Burton-on-Trent, West Midlands
Scenic water park beside the A38 with circular walking, running, and cycling routes around the lake. Pram and wheelchair-accessible paths throughout. Adventure playground near the cafe and free parking. Abundant wildlife including swans and ducks.
Located next to the A38 (traffic noise is minimal and then only near the car park) the park offers beautiful scenery and several walking route options. It's possible to cycle to Barton Marina in about 20 minutes (or a good hour's walk) plus routes to many other local places and beauty spots. The Hub cafe offers an excellent choice of hot & cold drinks as well as great food (hot and cold). The new toilet block was long overdue but is ideal. There are plenty of fishing spots, plentiful parking and almost limitless photo opportunities.
đ Family Action Verdict
Best for families wanting an easy, accessible outdoor loop with a clear destination at the cafe. The flat, firm path removes any barrier for pushchairs, wheelchairs, or grandparents joining the walk. The adventure playground provides a defined children's activity once the walk is done.

âBeautiful place to go for a walk, fresh air and burn off steam with the kids. Our stroll with the dog. The swans and ducks and nature all looked so beautiful too. Well looked after. The cafe was good, coffee delicious and prices reasonable. There's a couple of toilets which are a significant upgrade from the shack there was on my last visit a few years back. Well done! There's a play park too which my 3 enjoyed and plenty benches scattered about to sit while you wait or simply too catch your breath. Will go again.â

âMay 2025 This is a great place to take the family. There's a lovely cafe and two super clean toilets just by a large free car park. A well maintained path is good for walkers, runners, or cyclists and goes all around the water Near the cafe is an adventure playground and a picnic spot with several beaches. Branston Water Park lies just by The Trent and Mersey Canal, so you can do a spot of boat watching at a lockâ
