We had a wonderful day exploring this charming local park. The kids were thrilled with the variety of fun activities, from the hopscotch courts to the small playgrounds, all free of charge. The park is well-equipped with plenty of picnic tables shaded by mature oak trees, making it perfect for a family outing. We especially enjoyed the stunning autumn scenery, with vibrant leaves creating a picturesque backdrop. Parking was convenient at the nearby Acacia Car Park, just a short walk away, and only cost us £1 for a couple of hours, which is quite reasonable for the area.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for families with children of mixed abilities who want a no-cost outdoor session with room to roam. The wheelchair swings make it a stand-out for families with children who use mobility aids. The park is somewhat tucked away from the car park, so allow extra time on a first visit. Autumn visits reward with vivid foliage around the pond.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

💡Park at Acacia Car Park and follow the path toward the pond — the playground is set back from the entrance
Bring a picnic to take advantage of the shaded oak-tree tables
🎟️Explore the fishing pond loop after playground time for a natural extension to the visit
🚗Look for signage near the car park — the approach is not clearly marked on a first visit

We went for the wet play, but it was too cold so we went for a walk around the park and came across a fishing pond/lake. It is such a beautiful oasis. Parking was £2 for 4 hours and it's on the edge of the town centre so you could really spend the day with children and adults alike.

Loved our trip here. Kids enjoyed it very much, plenty things to play and it's free. Lots of picnic tables and trash bin. The surroundings also were beautiful in a fall day. Parked our car in the acacia car park nearby with only £1 for up to 2 hours.

Wonderful playground! Absolute hit with the kids even in the cold and when it was starting to get dark. Will be going back. The only thing is that I wish there were clearer signs to get there as it’s a little hidden away from the car park.
