Honestly this pool is a hidden gem in the middle of Edinburgh tucked conveniently behind Haymarket Station. I went at 9am on Sunday morning and was surprised at how busy it was. The group of older gents in the early morning queue were super friendly and jolly and I had a nice laugh with one of them about the lockers and someone stealing his shoes (kids, joking). The pool itself is clean and bright and the space is lovely. On poolside changing which is a nod to the victorian baths. Poolside was really clean. Five lanes catering for different speeds. Let me use my finger paddles which was cool. Showers fine on poolside. The other swimmers were lovely, the lifeguard waved goodbye to me when I left. I’ve rarely been in a nicer friendlier environment. The ONLY downside was the steps to get into the pool were really odd and wouldn’t fit someone with not great mobility to get in and out. There was a brilliant cafe near by for my post swim breakfast. I’ll definitely be back when I next visit Edinburgh. Wonderful.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for families who can visit during designated weekend family sessions. The warm, clean water and genuinely helpful staff create a relaxed environment for children new to swimming. Working parents with evening-only availability will find the timetable challenging — most family sessions are daytime focused.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

💡Weekend family sessions have generous allocated time — check the timetable and book ahead
Nearby parking can be tight — factor in extra time to find a space
🎟️The pool steps are not designed for mobility-restricted access — check suitability in advance
🚗Cashless payments only — no cash accepted at reception

Absolutely delightful! The stuff was very friendly and helpful from the receptionist to the lifeguards. Fully functional and clean amenities. All temperatures everywhere were very appropriate for kids too. Very accessible and useful. I loved the generous amount of time allocated for family swimming on the Saturday we went. I am very pleased with the Dalry swimming centre and will recommend it to anyone interested hands down!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
