1 / 2Eastbrookend Discovery Centre
đ Romford, Greater London
Free-entry countryside park 20 minutes from east London featuring lakes, woodland trails, animal displays including snakes and lizards, barbecue areas, fishing spots, and pram-friendly paths. Dogs welcome throughout.
We went to Eastbrookend Discovery Centre for a picnic event and had such a fun day! There were animals on display including snakes, lizards, and even little dragons, which the kids found so exciting. They especially loved the chance to hold the snakes! There were also free face painting and craft activities, which kept them busy and happy. A really well-organized, family-friendly event that made for a lovely day out. đđĻđ¨đŗ Car park is free. Best thing đ
đ Family Action Verdict
Best for families wanting a natural outdoor day out without entry fees â the combination of lake walks, woodland, and animal encounters gives children varied experiences in one visit. Works across all ages from toddlers in prams to older children doing longer trails.

âReally nice place for a walk around the ponds. Plenty of places to get away from the busy city. 20 minutes drive from east London. There is a also place for barbecue grill and opportunity for fishing. Overall it was a great outdoor experience with my parents. Free parking made it even more accessible. Will return to explore other parts of this centre as we could not finish our tour.â

âI love it here. First visited Garretts stables when I was 12 to go on riding hacks. Now 68 and love it more... It's beautiful and peaceful. Used to be a bit of a nightmare walking the dogs in winter but they have transformed it with lovely paths everywhere so no mud! Rabbits everywhere, woodlands, lakes and the centre has a lovely cafe which welcomes dogs!â

âVery nice countryside park. A lovely coffee shop / tea room, near a playground. Good walk for the family and dogs, near the lakes and through the woods.â
