1 / 2Gauntlet Birds of Prey - Eagle & Vulture Park (Knutsford)
📍 Knutsford, North West
Outdoor bird of prey park near Knutsford featuring flying demonstrations and talks with owls, eagles, vultures, falcons, hawks, Marabou Storks and more. Also includes meerkats, polecats, goats, an adventure playground, cafe, and covered picnic area.
We had a lovely day out as a family with a 13 year old (with additional needs), 9 year old and 3 year old. The shows were the highlight of the day. The man who lead the shows clearly was very passionate and knowledgeable about the birds and other animals. The birds flew right over our heads and it was incredible to be so close to them. The park itself is not very big and doesn't take long to get round, but it is clean and the animals seem well cared for. Due to its size we were worried it would get crowded for our 13 year old but it actually was a peaceful place. Despite it being small there were a great variety of birds. There was also some goats, meerkats and polecats to see. There is a play area which is more suitable for slightly older children. Probably 3+ rather than tots. The play area also doubles as a viewing platform for the bird display if you don't want to be in the crowd on the benches. There are picnic benches outside (some under cover and the ones that aren't have umbrellas). You can eat your own food here but not in the cafe. The cafe was reasonably priced. We had four paninis between the five of us and two hot drinks for £36. They provided an extra serving tray for us to split a panini between the two youngest. The staff in the cafe / welcome desk were lovely. The cafe was clean and welcoming. Our 9 year old son loves birds and we have seen quite a few bird displays including Warwick Castle which was the best we had seen until today. I highly recommend a trip here if you like birds. Although even if you aren't particularly a fan of birds, you can't fail to be amazed at seeing them all fly together above your head.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children aged 3 and up who want an intimate, educational wildlife experience rather than a large theme park. The passionate staff knowledge elevates the visit significantly — plan your arrival around the flying demonstration.

“Wow.. This place is amazing!! I came as a carer and left as an admirer of birds of prey, the love and compassion the team here have for their birds and the knowledge and dedication to far away projects is jaw dropping. The calm control of their birds when doing flight show was mesmerising and this was a winter show, in summer even more so, these displays hit a piece of my heart I never knew existed.! They do a meet and greet some of the birds and other wildlife, but keep your hands to your self those beaks are awesome. All the birds looked in great condition and some almost tame as you can get quite a close look of some in their aviary. There's kids play, you can get drinks and cake, there is a huge garden centre next to it, you really can make a full day out here. 100% I would return and recommend.”

“Great little place! I initially came with my husband on an experience which we both enjoyed, I was unsure what to expect but it was great! A lot of valuable information and enthusiasm of the staff members were outstanding. Then next I brought the kids. I knew that the place itself isn't very big and the kids are kids, my plan B was that we might pop out for lunch elsewhere (if we were ok to leave and return)... But we have stayed inside all the time (11 until almost 4) and we were kept busy! Apart from looking at the birds and watching the shows, we used the playground, had snacks outside and warm drinks inside, looked for specific birds, watched the film and the time just flew! One of the kids keeps talking about Robin the vulture so they definitely took some things in. We will be back!”

Overview
Gauntlet Birds of Prey spans birds from every continent — owls, eagles, vultures, falcons, hawks, Marabou Storks and Red-legged Seriemas — alongside meerkats, polecats and goats. The main draw is the flying demonstration where birds pass directly overhead; vulture talks add depth for older children and adults. The compact, well-maintained site suits families with children who have additional needs.
