1 / 2Hobbledown Adventure Farm Park and Zoo
📍 Epsom, Greater London
Half zoo, half adventure park for ages 1–13: capybara feeding, Junior Zoo Keeper sessions, outdoor adventure play, and indoor soft play. Runs in all weather including snow.
Junior Zoo Keeper Experience - 10th Birthday present! BEST £200 (for 2 children) WE'VE EVER SPENT!!! Our daughter Lara is animal mad and we didn't think we could do any better than last year's Alpaca Walk at West Leith Farm (especially as February in the UK is not great for weather) - BUT WE DID!!! The Junior Zoo Keeper experience is for 2 children over 6 (10 years is definitely they youngest I would go with) with 2 accompanying adults (and let me tell you - as 1 of the accompanying adults we did almost as much as the children just by observing). The morning session lasts 3 hours. The day started with some cleaning of the pony resting areas (about 20 minutes) then they prepared the food to feed some animals - Flemish Rabbits, Capybaras, Otters, Lemurs, Meerkats, Monkeys - which took a good 1.5. We then visited the birds of prey and had cuddles with the guinea pigs. 3 hours went by in a flash - but also didn't feel rushed. The whole experience wouldn't of been half as incredible if the brilliant and immensely knowledgeable Tally (sorry If I spelt your name wrong) wasn't running it! What an expert in her field and how incredible is she with the children too? Seriously, you know you've done a blinding job as a recruiter when Tally represents your organisation like that! Sadly we couldn't stay to explore the rest of the farm/park but we will DEFINITELY be back! We did manage to get some food in the cafe on the way out and it was better than the usual quality of sandwiches, nuggets and chips!
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children between 1 and 10 who want animal encounters woven into physical play rather than a traditional zoo format. The Junior Zoo Keeper session is a premium add-on that reviewers rate as genuinely exceptional — book it months ahead.

“I recently did the capybara feeding experience at Hobbledown Epsom and it was absolutely fantastic; even in the cold and rain! Alex made the whole experience unforgettable. She was incredibly kind, welcoming, and so knowledgeable. You can tell she genuinely cares about the animals and about making sure guests have the best possible experience. She answered all our questions, shared really interesting facts, and made everything feel relaxed and personal. I honestly couldn’t fault a thing. Thank you, Alex, for making it such a special day, I would highly recommend this experience to anyone!”

“Half zoo, half adventure park and fun year-round, even with a little snow on the ground. With a wide variety of animals, creative indoor play areas, and engaging outdoor activities, it’s an easy outing in any season. We visited with five kids ages 1 to 10, and there was something for everyone to enjoy.”

“Brilliant place to go with kids of all ages. Lots of things to do and see. Massive outdoors with amazing animals, indoor soft play and other activities you can join in on. The food was great too and reasonable price. Highly recommended for a day out.”

Overview
Hobbledown Epsom combines zoo animals — including capybaras, meerkats, and a wide exotic species range — with outdoor adventure areas and an indoor soft-play zone. The Junior Zoo Keeper experience (for two children) delivers behind-the-scenes access with a dedicated keeper for the full session. Capybara feeding runs separately and draws strong reviews for the quality of keeper engagement. All outdoor experiences operate regardless of weather.
