Leyton Leisure Centre
π London, Greater London
Leyton leisure centre offering swimming pools, fitness classes, gym, and family amenities including birthday party facilities and pram access. Fitness instructors are a consistent highlight in reviews.
I really enjoy the fitness classes especially Michelle's Legs Bums & Tums on a Thursday morning. However, I recently found out that the music will be changing and the instructors no longer have a say in the music being played for THEIR class. I find this quite strange and disruptive as the instructors know their classes and particpants the best and as participants, we find it very motivational with certain genres of music for specific classes. I really hope this change doesn't come into effect as it'll definitely encourage myself and no doubt others to rethink where they will take their fitness classes. It seems like a cheap way to dimish what is at the moment a great fitness class routine.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families who are primarily using the fitness class programme β the instructors are a genuine strength and the class atmosphere is welcoming to different fitness levels. Swimming families should of ongoing cold water temperature reports and cleanliness notes in both pool and gym areas that management has not visibly addressed.

βIβve recently found out that from March 2026 a generic music playlist will be used across all exercise classes. I donβt feel this is the right approach. Different classes have very different styles, energy levels and cultural influences, and music plays a huge role in setting the atmosphere and effectiveness of each session. Instructors know their classes best and should be trusted to choose music that suits what they are teaching. You wouldnβt expect the same music in a spin class as you would in a dance class with Afro beats β one size simply doesnβt fit all. This change feels like a step away from inclusiveness and individuality, both of which are important in a modern leisure centre. Iβd also like to say how much I enjoy the classes with the instructors β Michelle (legs, bums & tums and dance), Floyd, Ayoola, Gul as well as the fitness rebound class on Tuesdays. The instructors make a huge difference to the quality and enjoyment of the sessions. It would also be fantastic if Michelleβs classes could be available in the evenings too, as her classes are excellent. I really hope this decision is reconsidered.β

βReally, really needs a deep clean. I can see from previous reviews this has been an issue for a while. Itβs so important in a family pool. Plaster was on the side, wristbands scattered about and in the water. The place didnβt smell very strongly of chlorine either which I thought was odd for a pool. Around the sides of the pool need a good scrub and squeegee to give it a properly clean feel. Toilets were a mess but easy enough to clean. An employee went in while I was there and did nothing. A spray, wipe and quick mop would have been enough. Doesnβt look like cleanliness has been actioned after previous reviews. Staff were generally friendly. Atmosphere was fun. Just up the cleaning efforts please! Itβs peopleβs health.β

βIβve been a regular swimmer at the Leyton Leisure Centre for a while, but Iβm really disappointed by the cold water. The pool temperature has been uncomfortably low for at least a month, and I havenβt seen any communication about this from the centre. You donβt know the water is cold until you get in, giving you a shock to the system and leading to wasted trips. On a recent trip, the showers were cold too. I really hope the centre improves its communication with members and addresses this ongoing issueβ
