Northfield Farm Riding and Trekking Centre
π Buxton, North West
Guided hacking and trekking through Peak District National Park from Flash village. Rides suit all abilities from complete beginners to experienced canters. Popular 2-hour routes cover moorland, quiet roads, and open grassland.
I contacted Liz while on holiday in the Peak District to book a ride & she responded right away to book me onto a 2 hour ride the very next day! It was a wonderful experience for me as I hadnβt been on a horse for some time & needed to gain a bit of confidence back. All the staff were so friendly and reassuring & took the ride at a pace to suit all our abilities which were mixed. My big horse Belle was a sweetheart and a real gentle giant! She gave me a lovely safe ride & the scenery was amazing! I canβt think of a better way to explore the beautiful countryside & get a workout at the same time! Would highly recommend a visit & great value for money too!
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with mixed riding abilities β the ability-split system means a nervous beginner and a confident cantering teenager can ride together without either being held back or pushed too fast. Children who have cantered before will find the open grassland sections genuinely thrilling.

βI had my first ride at Northfield last weekend. I can honestly say it's one of the nicest hacks I've been on for years. It was very easy to find. I was part of a bigger group of people going on the 2-hour hack. The stables made sure I was paired with a suitable horse, and they clearly made sure anyone new to riding was taken care of. The horses were so well cared for. On the ride, the staff made sure we could split up and those comfortable with cantering could have a run. The scenery was gorgeous. I'll definitely be coming back on my next visit and booking a longer ride!β

β2nd time, I have been to this trekking centre. It is such a great place for hacking for all abilities, beautiful horses (which you can tell are all very well cared for), and fantastic surroundings. I rode Belle, who was such a pleasure to ride, and you felt looked after. I would recommend the half day trek to anyone more experienced. You do a couple of good canters with great views. Really enjoyed it.β

βJust home from a 2 hour ride on Poppy, with Jodie our leader and 7 other happy riders! These horses are beautiful, fit, well cared for and obviously love where they take us. Fabulous scenery, varied ride - great cantering for those who wanted it, alternate walk/trot for the others. Jodie was excellent; friendly and professional and knew all the horses so well. Can't wait for next time!β

Overview
Northfield Farm operates from Flash, England's highest village, offering guided rides through Peak District National Park. Two-hour hacks are the most popular option, covering moorland, quiet lanes, and open grass with cantering sections for confident riders. Staff split groups by ability so beginners walk and trot separately. Individual horses including Belle and Poppy are matched carefully to rider experience.
