A small, manageable museum you can do in a couple of hours without wearing the kids out. Good local history, an upstairs art gallery, a duck-spotting hunt for children, and free entry with a donation welcomed.
Lovely little museum, not too overwhelming which is ideal for disabled visitors and ideal for the wheelchair. Lighting a little dim in some areas but didn't impact too much. Lovely items, learnt some great bits of local history and some nice local art upstairs, albeit out of our price range. Also free but well worth the donation.

“Lovely local museum in very beautiful grounds. LOTS for children to do, including spotting all the rubber ducks which I also enjoyed despite being a grown up. Like most museums, it’s fully wheelchair accessible but I was a bit confused by the toilets. Cafe makes your food fresh for you so if you want a different combination of sandwich fillings, just ask. My favourite bit is the yellow gallery which just has all kinds of art from local artists - all different styles, mediums and skill levels.”

Overview
Tucked in the grounds of Riversley Park, this is the kind of local museum you can wander in an easy morning without wearing anyone out. Free entry (a donation is welcome), ramped access and a lift make it genuinely pram and wheelchair friendly, and there's a duck-spotting hunt to keep small legs busy between the George Eliot displays and rotating exhibitions. The tearoom does fresh food to your kids' fussiest specifications, and the whole place is compact enough not to overwhelm.
