1 / 3Portal Mini Golf
📍 Scotland
18-hole indoor course inspired by retro arcade games and pop culture, featuring Kenny's Speedway loop-da-loops, an 80s arcade section, and a five-hole black light finale room. No time limit.
One of the best crazy/mini golf places in Edinburgh, I hadn’t realised it’s been around for quite a while. Some of the holes are very tricky but I guess therein lies the challenge! Relatively cheap (£8 per person, 18 holes) and a great way to kill some time. There’s a great retro vibe to some of the latter holes too! We went during the week, during the day - we had the whole course to ourselves which felt pretty cool too (guess we got lucky there).
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children aged 9+ who appreciate creative design alongside the challenge of putting. The Stranger Things section and black light room create genuine atmosphere that appeals to kids and nostalgic adults equally. Quieter on weekday mornings — arrive then for the course largely to yourselves.

“Wow, this place is amazing. Took me right back to my childhood in the 80's. The arcade bit is my favourite but also loved the variety of the other holes. This is the most exciting indoor golf place i have been too. The kids loved it (9 and 12) and my husband did too. A great day out for a family, friends, couples or even just on your own! Check out the Stranger Things section too. Amazing art work!”

“Fantastic time at Portal Mini Golf. Each and every hole has a theme and story behind it relating to the venue and the people behind this extremely well thought out and built mini golf course. This was the vest but most trying mini goof course we have tried in Northern Ireland and Scotland. Every hole had to be thought through. An excellent activity enjoyed by us all.”

“we went there very spontaneously on a sonday morning and it was one of the best things we ever did!! It has an amazing design and the different courses are really fun. It’s really cheap as well, 7£ per person. There are 18 courses in total and the last 5 are in a black light room. I’d definitely recommend!! Ps: sorry for the new dent in your ceiling :)”
