1 / 3Princes Street Gardens Playground
📍 West End, Scotland
Recently updated free playground in central Edinburgh with direct views of Edinburgh Castle. Features a dedicated toddler area and a three-level tower for older children. Wheelchair and pram accessible throughout.
They’ve finally updated this playground ideally placed in front of the dramatic castle and next to Princes St. I’ve seen so many families from all over the world using it and it’s needed a revamp for quite some time. Now there’s a play area for little ones and a three level tower for big ones. It’s more disabled friendly with ground level merry go round you can take a wheelchair or pram onto. There’s sound makers. Ground level trampoline. Stepping stones. There’s a make believe train station ticket office my 6yo was keen to sell me tickets for the next train to London. We’ll return another day to spend more time exploring.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for mixed-age families visiting Edinburgh's city centre who want an outdoor play stop with genuine wow factor. The castle backdrop is unmatched. Separate toddler and older-child zones mean all ages are catered for simultaneously.

“Great park to relax, play with the kids or have a drink and or picknick, there are several places where you can buy ice-creams. Also there is a Cafe where you can order some drinks. I guess regurly some kind of performances are carried out because of the podiums which are in the park. All in all a very nice concept and a great place to escaped a bit of the crowds on the street.”
