A lovely part of the day out. Me and my partner went here as their favourite animal is pigs. We were very excited to see them, but very happy to see other animals such as the cows and the goats. The staff were friendly and told us names of the animals as we walked around. Getting to pet some of the lovely animals too was so cute, I would recommend a trip here if you love animals and want to pet a cow.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for families with children of any age wanting hands-on animal contact without any entry cost. The combination of feeding sessions, nature trail, and cafe makes it a full morning out. Families with cars should use public transport or arrive early — roadside parking on the residential street fills quickly.

â„šī¸ What to Know Before You Go

💡Walk from Walton train station (5 minutes) to avoid parking difficulties on the narrow residential road
⏰Check ahead for animal yard closures — disease outbreaks can restrict access to enclosures
đŸŽŸī¸Pack a picnic to use the grounds alongside your visit
🚗The chapel cafe serves refreshments and has toilet facilities on-site

Overview

Rice Lane City Farm sits in Walton, Liverpool, with a varied collection of farm animals that staff introduce by name. A nature trail leads through the adjoining cemetery, mixing local history with outdoor exploration. Refreshments and toilets are available in a converted chapel on-site. Entry is free and the farm is well-run. Animal yard access can be restricted during disease outbreaks — a bird flu closure affected one recent visit.
