1 / 2Ryders Farm Equestrian Centre
📍 Bolton, North West
Established equestrian centre with 30-plus horses offering group and private lessons from age 5. Structured programmes include beginner courses, weekly clubs for children and teens, and weekend group sessions.
I have been riding with Ryder for over 3 years now and I have absolutely enjoyed every second of it! I joined the yard when I joined the MMU Equestrian Club in my first year to get back into riding and to have a break from the stress of university, it has soon become my passion and breath of fresh air! Ryders changed my whole view on what a good yard is! I have never been to a yard so caring, passionate about the wellbeing of their horses, encouraging and friendly! And I’ve been riding since I was 7.. I’m now 22 and been around a lot of different yards! Jenny teaches our university lessons on a Wednesday, she has absolutely shaped me into the rider I am today, when I first joined Ryders I was so nervous taking quite a big break from riding and have never been pushed in my ability! I first started as a novice rider, but Jenny soon had me cantering and jumping all the way into advanced! When I first started I would have never believed I would be flying around the school on the likes of Amber and Diva but with Jenny’s passion, encouragement and support it was all beyond possible and I’m so grateful that she showed me what I was capable of! I also have private lessons with Connor whenever I can, Connor is one of the most friendly people I have ever met, even on a Wednesday when I’m up at the yard and not riding with him he comes over to say hello and asks how I am! His lessons are so fun and he has equally pushed me and helped me grow massively with confidence! What I love most about Connor is his constant willingness, feedback and encouragement! Each private I come away feeling accomplished, he has opened my eyes to so many things within my riding, his endless knowledge has helped me improve in ways I didn’t think were possible, I’ve never come away from a lesson not knowing something new and being as happy as can be! Sarah and Louise are also incredible, as the chair of the university equestrian club, I’m in regular contact with them, they are so kind, professional, supportive and just genuinely amazing! They put such clear hard work into their business, over summer the yard has undergone a makeover and it looks amazing, it just shows the passion they have for their business and how much they love it! And with that the university club also feels all of that passion, they have helped us with endless fun events at the yard, including charity fundraisers! Their generosity never stops giving and as a club we couldn’t thank them enough! There wouldn’t be a better yard to go to every Wednesday!! Overall all the staff at Ryders are incredible, Julie and Morgan are always running around to help us whilst having the time to have a laugh with us! We couldn’t appreciate all the hard work them and the rest of the staff put in behind the scenes enough! Cath and Ebony cook up an absolute storm of a lunch every week which is worth coming to the yard for alone, whilst again also being so friendly and lovely! Every single member of staff that I’ve come across has made my experience amazing and this is a yard I will come to for years to come even after my last year at university! Thank you for being such an incredible yard, for making my day the best day of the week every week without a fail, this yard makes you feel like a friend, not just a customer and that’s something incredibly special alone! Xx
🏆 Family Action Verdict
An excellent riding school for families with children aged 5 and up, from complete beginners to developing riders. Instructors like Connor, Jazz, and Jenny are repeatedly cited for building real confidence in nervous riders.

“My daughter has been having weekly lessons for nearly a year now. I highly recommend this place to anyone! The staff are amazing with my daughter, especially Jazz, Connor & Jenny. Jazz has always been there to help & educate my daughter.. bringing out her confidence & is always there to answer any questions she has. Conor has done most of her lessons and has been nothing but AMAZING! He makes the lessons fun and she has come on so much since starting. He is fun, bubbly and great with my daughter! I couldn’t thank him more for everything he’s taught her & the efforts he’s gone to each week to ensure the lessons are not only fun but challenging so she can reach her full potential. She has recently started on the group lessons with a Jenny who again is AMAZING! Thankyou everyone for your efforts with my daughter & being the best riding school around!!”

“Fabulous riding school with lovely, friendly and helpful staff. Coaches are all really knowledgeable and experienced. Horses are amazing and the school can accommodate all levels of ability. I have been riding here for a number of years now and have both weekly group and private lessons with Connor. I remember from my very first lesson that he would be the coach for me. A lot of thought goes into the planning and preparation of his lessons. He makes learning fun, he’s supportive, offers lots of encouragement and is fantastic at installing and maintaining confidence. I would highly recommend this riding school; it’s the best and coach Connor is exceptional!”

“I started lessons at Ryders in December and I feel so lucky to have found the place. Connor is brilliant teacher and lessons are genuinely fun! I love that you can tack and un tack the horse with Julie guiding if needed. The horses - Jill, Poppy and Mel so enjoyable to ride and build confidence. Thanks for all being so warm and welcoming- I am excited to continue learning. Best riding school ever ❤️”
