1 / 2Scrambles Soft Play
📍 Ratho, Scotland
Indoor soft play within Edinburgh International Climbing Arena, divided into three zones: 0–18 months, 18 months–3 years, and 4–10 years. On-site cafe, free parking, and monthly membership available.
This is an excellent Softplay. Been to quite a few around the country now and am very grateful that Scrambles is right on our doorstep and happens to be the best I've visited. It's always kept very clean, staff are quick to clear tables, spray them down and sweep up any dropped rubbish/food so kids don't get anything on their feet. It's a first come first served service but even when at capacity, the max I've ever waited was 20 mins. There's a cafe right next to the Softplay or you can sit comfortably upstairs and watch the climbers, so the time passes very quickly if you're asked to wait. Staff are lovely. Wait for food/drinks can sometimes be a bit slow as the counter for Softplay is shared with the cafe, so if both are busy then the staff can get a little overwhelmed. A little understanding goes a long way though and the staff here work exceptionally hard and are always very friendly. They know our daughter by name now, as we signed up for a membership and come several times a week because she loves it so much. There are three zones - a baby zone for 0-18m, toddler zone for 18m-3yrs and junior zone for 4-10yrs and they're very good at asking older kids to leave the baby zone if it gets busy, which is a relief, as many places I've been to don't police the young baby areas and it can be anxiety inducing if you're in with young babies and rough older kids are jumping around them. Parking is free, you just register your car registration on one of the tablets in the building to get your free parking. Food and drink is well priced for this type of venue, very reasonable. Bottle of water, carton of chocolate milk, cheese sandwich, fruity bites and a coffee cost me £7. Membership is also well priced at £19.99 per month and grants you access to two other Softplay venues in the area too. Can't fault Scrambles at all. One of the cleanest, best run Softplays I've been to and great facilities for all ages.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
The top soft play choice for families with babies through age 10 in the Edinburgh area — particularly strong for families with mixed-age children who need genuinely separate zones. The exceptional cleanliness and attentive staff set it apart. Families visiting on weekends should call ahead as capacity limits can mean a short wait.

“The pictures do not do this place justice! There are three separate play areas to allow space for younger children to play safely. They have a really nice cafe that means the adults can have a great coffee and snack while waiting. They have a very affordable kids lunch offer of under £5 per child. The play area comes across very clean and is well lit so that you’re able to see the children even from a distance. I’ve been to a few soft plays and find this one to be the best one yet.”

“Cleaner and more controlled than other soft plays we’ve visited. Really enjoyed our time with our toddler. Biggest baby area we’ve seen across the soft plays.”
