St Andrews Lakes is such a brilliant local escape and honestly feels like a mini break every time I visit. I’ve spent some gorgeous hot summer days by the lakes, where the staff have always been friendly, welcoming and really helpful. One of my favourite experiences was having access to the adults-only beach — it was peaceful, relaxing and perfect for switching off for the day. I’ve also paddle boarded on the lake, and there are so many activities available that there’s always something new to try. The scenery is beautiful and it’s amazing to have somewhere like this so close by that feels a world away from everyday life. I’ve also visited in the winter and booked the wellness experience, which was just as special. The hot tubs and sauna were blissful, especially after a quick freezing cold dip in the lake! The ski-lodge style setting was incredibly cosy and festive, making it feel really magical and Christmassy. There are still so many things I haven’t tried yet — like the zip wire and aqua park — which just gives me even more reason to go back. I would highly recommend St Andrews Lakes for all ages, at any time of year. A real gem. ** I’ve not stayed there yet, so not rated the rooms… hopefully I will at some point!

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for families with children aged 6 and above who want active water-based adventure in a genuinely striking natural setting. The tiered aqua parks mean younger siblings from age 2 have their own section. Adults wanting to combine activity with wellness sessions will find a full programme available.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

💡Book aqua park sessions in advance as peak-season slots fill quickly
Children aged 2–5 have a dedicated kids' aqua park separate from the main course
🎟️Cabin hot tub firewood is not included in accommodation pricing — arrange in advance
🚗The site is close to Halling station for those travelling without a car

My partner and I stayed in the Carp cabin for three days and it was a great experience. First, it's not far from London then the place was close to Halling station. Once there we were driven to the cabin and explained everything. The cabin itself is really well design and perfect for a couple. Don't forget to order some wood for the hottube bath. It's not included in the location. Be also aware there is a £250 deposit. The only downside I would say is the constant noise from the highway on the other side of the lake but the insolation of the cabin is very good and nothing can be heard when inside. Otherwise, when in the hot tub, just turn on the bubbles and you will be in your own one (bubble 😉). An overall really good experience. Ask for the Carp cabin as it seems to be the best one.

I had a wonderful morning at the lake. I started off with with a stretch and relaxation class with Sandra. She is amazing. She made us feel relaxed and calm and explained everything. It was very peaceful and how wonderful to be looking out into this beautiful lake during our class❤️ I then had a wonderful swim in the lake, meditating as I swam in the beautiful still, shimmering water with the sun turning it into a diamond sheet. Perfect❤️ Thank you to everyone who works at the lake for making it such a wonderful place to visit ♥️

We have recently completed the cold water workshop and 2 further weeks of a cold water dip. Ron is a great teacher and full of enthusiasm, inspiration and loves to see everyone enjoying their cold water journey. St Andrews offers a safe place to do this amazing experience. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. It offers everything needed to warm up afterwards!!!! Including a really delicious hot choccy!! We will continue with the journey every Sunday as often as possible so hopefully, see a few of you there x
