5/5 – A Fantastic Day Out for All Ages! We had an amazing time at Summerfields Miniature Railways! There are three different ride-on tracks: the Summerfield Line, which takes you from Haynes End Station to Hammer Hill Station; the Springfield Line; and the Winterfield Line, which is a raised track offering a different perspective. All the tracks are well-maintained and offer a delightful experience. The staff are incredibly friendly and passionate about what they do, making the visit even more enjoyable. There’s also a charming Garden Railway to watch while enjoying a picnic. Overall, it’s a brilliant outing for families and train enthusiasts alikeβ€”lots of fun, not expensive, and definitely worth a visit!

β€œA great little gem tucked away. Saw the sign β€˜open’ and popped in. There is plenty of room to park, toilet facilities, a cafe and of course the train station. You can take a return train ride out into the countryside, then there are 2 more types of train rides once to get there, that do a double circuit. Then it’s a return journey back for cake and a drink. All reasonably priced. All the staff were lovely and chatted to the grandchildren, who had a great time. Will definitely visit again, especially now we have a leaflet with their opening times.”

β€œI recommend this train outing for toddles plus. I took my boys this half term and it was the last day till December when they reopen for Santa. We took all the rides. They have x3 platforms that take you round 2 to 3 times. The kids loves it and wanted to go on and on. The volunteers where so helpful. The cafe drinks and snacks were cheap (hot chocolate for my son cost Β£1) and they have toys for them to play with too. I was amazed with this place. I enjoyed the train ride as much as the kids.”

β€œIt's run by some lovely volunteers, they are extremely busy on the open days, it's very popular & parking can be a mare at times, well worth a visit with the youngsters for an inexpensive time or with the little ones. One tip I would give is take a picnic, unless you like sausage rolls.”

Overview

Summerfields offers three distinct miniature railway experiences on a single site: the Summerfield Line running from Haynes End Station to Hammer Hill, the Springfield Line, and the elevated Winterfield Line. The Bedford Model Engineering Society runs the site with volunteer crews who are consistently praised for their enthusiasm with children. Facilities include toilets and a basic on-site cafe. Large field parking available, and busy running days can stretch capacity.
