1 / 3The Hideaway Partington
π Partington, North West
Britain's first pay-what-you-can play centre in Partington, run by a charity. Offers toddler groups, after-school clubs, cooking classes, arts and crafts, and birthday parties with free parking and community food pantry.
We had such a fantastic experience at The Hideaway! My little boy and his best buddy absolutely loved the safe and chilled atmosphere where they could play independently and confidently. Itβs a perfect spot for after-school playdates β whether with friends or just to meet new local little ones. The boys enjoyed delicious homemade pizza with chips and beans, followed by squash and ice cream. The food is very reasonably priced, which makes it even better value for families. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly warm, friendly, and welcoming. They went out of their way to explain where everything was, the different play areas (with age guidance), and even how to order food and drinks. Their attentiveness really stood out, as they showed genuine interest in their customers and created such a lovely, community feel. I was also impressed to learn about their brilliant after-school sessions β including Lego club, baking, and arts & crafts β all offered at a small additional cost and including meals and drinks. With the colder, wetter weather setting in, itβs the perfect place to let off some energy or simply unwind in a safe, well-managed environment. What I thought might be chaotic and noisy with lots of children was actually relaxed, organised, and really well run. Weβre already looking forward to booking our next session! Thank you to Leanne and the wonderful hideaway team! Keep doing what youβre clearly amazing at!! With many thanks, Gabrielle .
π Family Action Verdict
The best-value family play centre in the Partington area by a significant margin. Donation-based entry makes it genuinely accessible for budget-conscious families, and the structured activity calendar means there is always something new each visit. Toddlers through primary-age children all find something relevant.

βI recently visited the indoor soft play place in Manchester, and it's undoubtedly the best in the city. It goes beyond just fun, it's also educational and pro-development. The variety of play areas, from construction and role play to sandcastle building and dinosaur adventures, ensures there's something for every child. Our little ones had a blast exploring the diverse activities, including the bouncy castle, slide, and the football/basketball area. The two hours we spent there flew by, a testament to the engaging and enjoyable environment. As our kids grow older, it's exciting to know that there will be even more activities to keep them entertained. One standout feature is the convenience of free parking and the availability of emergency nappies, providing peace of mind for parents. The on-site cafe offers a plethora of options, making it easy to refuel during playtime. Moreover, the staff members go the extra mile, enhancing the overall experience. Highly recommended for a fun-filled and stress-free day out with the little ones.β

βHow this place doesnβt have more 5* reviews is beyond me. Itβs an absolute gem of a place with incredibly helpful and friendly staff. They have great calendar of activities for kids of all ages all of which are very affordable and there is enough play equipment to keep everyone busy. If only there were more places like this.β

Overview
The Hideaway Partington operates on a donation-based entry model for members and delivers a full calendar of activities: early-morning under-5s sessions, after-school clubs covering Lego, baking, arts and football, free cooking classes, and parenting groups. The main hall has construction zones, role play, sand areas, and dinosaur-themed play. Birthday party packages are available. A food pantry, clothing donations, and adult activities extend the community offer beyond children's play.
