This was a brilliant attraction to visit, set in a large space at Thornes Park! The leaves surrounded its track in December and woodlands are pretty, the track winds around different corners too. Green and red colored mini trains were both running, pulling enclosed carriages or ones to sit on with outside all around! Platforms have a nice little accessible feel and staff were lovely, mini engine shed is fabulous to be able to see.

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for toddler and primary-age children who love trains, especially families looking for a low-cost outing with strong nostalgic appeal across generations. Multiple laps are easy to manage and the woodland setting adds genuine charm. Wrap up warm for winter β€” the exposed track gets cold fast.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Dress in warm layers for winter visits β€” the track is fully exposed to the elements
⏰Both enclosed and open-air carriages are available β€” ask staff which is running
🎟️Combine with a walk through Thornes Park woodland for a longer outing
πŸš—Suitable for pushchairs to access the boarding area

β€œBeen going since the 1950s. I rode on this as a kid and it was a delight to be able to take my own son on it. Β£1 each β˜ΊοΈβ€
