We went to check out the stream engine festival. Saw some awesome vintage cars and a bike. The steam engines were great until they all began pulling their horns. The sound was ear piercing and I felt sorry for the dogs (who also looked like most of them were dehydrated in the heat). We were only there about 20 minutes as I had to get away from the sound....

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for families with train and heritage transport enthusiasts β€” allow three to four hours to cover the railway, vintage buses, traction engines, and static exhibits. Children who are sensitive to loud sounds should be prepared: steam horns are ear-piercing when multiple engines sound simultaneously.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Bring plenty of cash β€” the entire site including food, drinks, and beer tent is cash-only
⏰Prepare noise-sensitive children for very loud steam horn sounds from multiple engines
🎟️Free parking is available on site
πŸš—Allow at least three hours to cover railways, vintage buses, traction engines, and exhibits

β€œA great event on a fabulous site. The stewards were brilliant at seeing everyone in and out. Everything well signposted, and all was made even better by some sunshine. Several fields of engines, vehicles, traders and refreshment. Narrow guage railways to ride upon and a good museum to boot.”

β€œGreat little place unlimited rides on the narrow gauge industrial railway, miniature railway and behind traction engines. Could do with a few more exhibit buildings open but that could of been due to staff. This place reminds me of Barleylands before they went commercial. On the real ale bar, something better is needed than Harvey's Brewery, I'm sure there's something local-ish that would be able to support the events? Anyway will come back for another event when it's all back to normal and I'm sure it'll be 5 stars then. Really friendly staff too, great drivers making the engines work hard, which sounded brilliant. Good old fashioned style fun. * Does anyone know the current status of the proposed tramway that looks like it had started to be laid from the shed?”

β€œIf (like me), you are fond of local heritage & nostalgia, then Tinkers Park Steam event is perfect. With a variety of vintage buses to both look around and travel on (this is an absolute must do), as well as miniature trains & traction engine pulled trailer rides to ride on, Tinkers Park will easily keep even the youngest guest entertained & interested for a good 3-4 hours at least. There is ample free parking, the admission fee is exceptionally reasonable, whilst there are food & drink outlets on site & WC facilities also located near the entrance.”
