Great activity for children. Warm very friendly welcome by all staff. Great fun something very different and small group for the children. Nice music being played during the activity. Toilets immaculate and nice to have the choice of snacks and a drink. Looking forward to returning. Thank you Ben for a licely first time session for my Grandson.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for families with children aged 7 and above who want coached instruction in a small-group setting. The caving room adds a differentiated experience not available at most climbing centres. Instructors handle mixed-ability groups well — an adult beginner and an older child can participate in the same session without either being held back.

💡Free parking is available directly at the venue
The caving room with helmets and torches is a separate bookable highlight for younger children
🎟️Birthday party room is available to hire — bring your own food and drinks

Great experience. Took my 7 year old daughter. We both climbed. She loved it. I loved it. Staff were great. Our trainer Ben was really helpful. Highly recommend.

Absolutely brilliant - we booked a one hour session with an instructor (apologies but I never found out his name - he's around 29, super cool, been climbing since he was 12), went with 2 kids and three adults of varying competency and bravery. We were handled so so well (I honestly cannot stress this enough) - after a very gentle intro to climbing and some sideways challenges we moved onto the bigger rooms; everything was explained to us and we were given plenty of space to try out out own ideas. What really made this ultra amazing for us was how good our instructor was with our kids (both under 10) - he was very supportive and encouraging, didn't force them into doing things a certain way, gave them lots of room to experiment (and fail) on their own, and was just an absolute pleasure to work with. Adults were given help and ideas when needed but he focused on making the session as enjoyable as possible for the little ones and this was very much appreciated. Really made for a wonderful experience and we will most definitely be returning. Thankyou Yellow Spider!

Had a great first experience at Yellow Spider today. Parking was ample, check in was quick, and friendly staff gave us a proper tour of the gym. It was a peak time, but not too busy at all. For us as intermediate climbers, we found the number of routes, variety of routes and holds, and setting to be fantastic. A real highlight was the interesting shapes of the walls, giving more variety than I've seen anywhere. It had a real indie feel and it seemed to have a friendly community. There are basically two large rooms, each with two entrances, and a third room for kids and caving. My son did the caving with a helmet and head torch and really enjoyed it. We are in the area visiting friends every year, so will return here each time. At the end, it was quiet so I took a video of the three rooms which I'll post in three parts here if you want to get a better feel for what the centre offers.
