1 / 3Beeches Pool & Fitness Centre
📍 Birmingham, West Midlands
25-metre pool with an unusually large shallow end, making it one of the most accessible local options for beginners and young swimmers. Swimming lessons and family splash sessions run regularly.
Beeches pool is my favourite place to go for a swim. They have a very large shallow end for children and new swimmers. So if you want to learn swimming, i highly recommend this pool. The staff and lifeguards are very friendly and helpful. The building is not very big, which works in its favour because It feels like a family run business. The toilets and changing rooms do need a refurbishment but I still prefer this pool compared to others.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
The large shallow end is a genuine asset for children learning to swim and the lifeguards earn real trust from parents. Facility condition is the overriding problem: broken toilets, hygiene notes, and a reported fire exit blockage are not minor issues. Families with disabled children have faced access difficulties.

“Place needs a major refurb..it's filthy and run down. Toilets need fixing, it feels like a petri dish in there. Loads broken, damaged walls. Staff at reception need training on basic customer services and manners. Most of which seem like they have been "gentle parented" and have massive entitled attitudes. I give it two stars because the swimming instructors and life guards are really pleasant and good. Everything else just lets it down.”

“If there was an option there wouldn’t be a single star given. Went to Beeches swimming today with our 6 year old autistic non verbal son as our usual swimming pool was closed at short notice. We arrived and took the option of just doing the last 30minutes of the splash session as our son would not wait 30minutes for the next one. There are no concessions for disabled and careers. We used the disabled changing room. We were told that the shower was not working and the lockers were not in use. The disabled facilities were absolutely filthy. The pool is segregated into sections and the splash area has no step access, you just jump in and are expected to climb out. Not entirely sure this complies with health and safety - safe access egress etc. As we arrived late with a few other families the life guards said that we could stay in for the next session. They were lovely and had great manners in all fairness. The manager stormed in and quite abruptly told us that we were given the option to wait for the full session and we refused so had to leave. We only stayed as the lifeguards said we could, and would have quite happily paid for the next session to avoid any further disappointment to our disabled son, however we were not given this option. The female and male changing areas were about as disgusting as the disabled changing area. The whole place is run down but there is no excuse for the filth. We will never be returning to this facility as the management have absolutely no idea, quite self entitled with absolutely no customer service skills or compassion for parents in a dilemma with a disabled child.”

“I visited Splash with my children on Sunday. While we were in the men’s changing room, an adult male stranger approached my two sons while I was briefly away changing. When I returned, my children were standing less than one foot away from me and immediately told me that this man had approached them and applied oil to my 10-year-old son’s skin, telling him to smell it. I was shocked and extremely concerned, as no adult should ever approach, touch, or interact with a minor in this way. I confronted the individual (dark long hair, muscular fit body, 170 cm aprox tall) and told him that his behaviour was completely inappropriate. Staff heard the argument and asked us to move to the reception desk because there were other children and adults present. I contacted the police immediately. During this time, the individual left the building by putting on a hood and ran to the car park, leaving the premises before his details could be taken. Staff told me they were unable to stop him from leaving or provide me with any identification. I have since filed a formal police report, and the matter is under investigation. I am also waiting for the leisure centre’s internal safeguarding report. I am posting this review to warn parents. The safeguarding response was inadequate, and children attending this centre — including school groups — deserve better protection. Until this incident is fully investigated and safeguarding procedures are clearly improved, I cannot recommend this leisure centre.”
