What an amazing night at Bewilderwood Cheshire! We booked a 6pm slot and arrived around 6.15pm. The walk was really quiet and it felt so magical! The show was brilliant with excellent audience inclusion. I cannot get over how much nicer it was than other local attractions at Christmas. The opportunity to have a drink and bite to eat after the panto was great, and meet Santa. The rest of the walk again was lovely and honestly I’d give this place more stars if I could. Thank you for a wonderful night! ❤️

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for children aged 3-10 who respond to imaginative woodland storytelling and variety of physical challenges. Regular daytime sessions deliver 3-plus hours of solid play across all structures.

We visited bewilder-wood for the Christmas Panto and light trail. This was the first time we had been and we loved it. We wondered through the forest looking at the lovely light displays. We then had some festive food in the tee pee tent. The food was very good and very fairly priced. We then went to see the pantomime and wondered through the remaining forest light trail. We spent around 3 hours here we had a great time! Thank you Bewilderwood

After we booked, we received an email saying the venue would now open at 11am instead of 10am — with no real apology and no option to cancel, even though the terms had changed after booking. As a result, we felt like we were rushing around all day rather than letting the kids relax and enjoy themselves. The later opening was apparently due to the light trail in the evening, but all the play structures closed at 4:30pm. The light trail itself only took about 15 minutes to walk through, so there was no need to stay later than 5pm — it was dark and there was nothing else to do. We drove over an hour to get there (and even longer home due to traffic). It was actual Halloween, so we were trying to get back in time for trick-or-treating. When we booked, none of the timings for the day were advertised, and the delayed opening time wasn’t mentioned — neither was the later closing time. If we wanted to do the light trail then we couldn't leave earlier than 4.45pm. So we also had to rush the light trail at the end. If we had known the changed timings prior to booking, we simply would not have booked as we would have known the timings would be too tricky. I emailed to ask about this and the response showed that they just didn't care. In fact, the structures closed even earlier, at 4:19pm. My little boy was in floods of tears when he ran over to go down the big slide one more time, only to be told it was closed. If you are going to open late in the day, at least keep the structures open until the advertised time. I took the photo of the slides at 4.19pm. You can see there is no one on them as they were closed by then. The signage around the site could also be much clearer — we kept having to ask for directions and wasted time going the wrong way - even though me and my friend have both been before. On days like Halloween, it would also help if staff advised visitors not to go through the Halloween light trail section during the day, as it spoils the effect later on. We were told the light trail started at the Munch Bar, but it actually began near the toilets. At the end of the day, when the kids are tired, you need clearer direction. The place itself is fabulous, but it feels like the people running it don’t really think about the customer experience. Things like accurate opening and closing times really matter. Sadly, I’ve been left with a bad taste in my mouth and wouldn’t go back.
