1 / 2Cameo Picturehouse
đ Scotland
Historic Tollcross cinema with four screens, arthouse and blockbuster programming, a welcoming bar, and regular discounted sessions. Baby Club screenings available for parents with young children.
My mum and I are frequent visitors to the Cameo cinema and have been for many years. We always enjoy ourselves there. The staff are very courteous and professional. On a recent visit , one of the managers, (I'm sorry I am not sure of his name, but he has a long beard and glasses). went above and beyond to help me. I was very touched by his kindness and thoughtfulness. Thank you to general manager for employing such wonderful people.
đ Family Action Verdict
Families with older children and teens who enjoy film â including arthouse and independent releases â find this a step above multiplex culture. The building is genuinely beautiful and the staff are attentive. Screen 1 is the most comfortable for tall adults.

âBest cinema in Edinburgh, I go here probably once a week. All the staff are great. The building itself is so beautiful, although the screens do get cold sometimes. Great selection of blockbuster, current arthouse, classic, and little known films. There is something for everyone!â

âCame to watch the newly released 'Wake Up Dead Man' and had a wonderful time. Good venue, good lighting, comfortable seating and delicious popcorn. Had minimal interactions with staff but when I did they were all polite.â

âBrilliant place. Screen 1 is my favourite cinema in town. I'm very tall but there is plenty legroom and comfortable seats. However, be aware that it can get cold so bring warm clothesâ

The Cameo opened in the early 1900s and remains one of Edinburgh's most distinctive cinema buildings. Four screens show a curated mix of current releases, arthouse films, classic screenings, and special events. Screen 1 offers generous legroom for taller visitors. The bar area serves food and drinks before and after screenings. Silver Screen and Happy Monday discount sessions run regularly. Screens can run cold in winter â reviewers recommend bringing an extra layer.
